SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for supporting the integrity and accuracy of the Bank's general ledger through reconciliation, posting, and system maintenance activities. The role provides essential operational support to the accounting function, supports daily and month-end accounting operations, navigates interface processes, and collaborates across departments to ensure timely and accurate financial data.
This position contributes to departmental and Bank-wide initiatives, as well as upholds the Bank's service culture and operational standards.
Following successful training and demonstrated proficiency, the role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, with defined on-site expectations. Consistent availability during core business hours is required, with additional approved hours as needed to meet deadlines and business needs.

Core Accounting Operations
Perform and maintain general ledger account reconciliations, including month-end close processes
Support daily and periodic general ledger postings and batch entries
Assist in maintaining and improving the general ledger system and related interfaces
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial data and reconciliations
Process Execution & Support
Manage reconciliation workflows and proactively identify and resolve discrepancies
Support cross-functional accounting processes and data flows across departments
Contribute to accounting-related projects and process improvements
Operational Effectiveness & Accountability
Independently manage workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Anticipate issues, develop action plans, and resolve obstacles proactively
Utilize systems and tools effectively to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Compliance & Risk Management
Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive financial information
Ensure adherence to Bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
In the performance of respective tasks and duties, the employee is expected to maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act regulations and adhere to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with all applicable regulatory standards, requirements and policies.
Complete all required compliance training and apply internal controls in daily work

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
Smart Phone - To enable the MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) facilitating access to MSB systems.
HYBRID/REMOTE ENVIRONMENT:
Your physical remote location must provide a dedicated workspace that is generally private, free from distractions, and provides adequate light to be regularly visible on video calls.
You must have access to a reliable internet connection with adequate bandwidth to join Teams and other video calls.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related course work and equivalent experience
1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience in a financial institution preferred
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Prior exposure or experience with:
General ledger processes
Account reconciliations
Financial systems or accounting software - Oracle Financials a plus
Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite products including, but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and OneNote
Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in Excel preferred
Ability to multi- task, organize, work independently, accomplish tasks, and meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Solid understanding and application of administration activities with an understanding of office procedures and ability to operate standard office equipment
