Job Title: 2nd Shift Quality Control Associate
Job Description
The 2nd Shift Quality Control Associate ensures that in-process and finished packaging products meet strict customer and regulatory specifications. This role focuses on detailed measurements, visual inspections, and documentation within a cleanroom environment, supporting the production of engineered flexible materials for the global healthcare market.
Responsibilities
Inspect in-process and finished products to verify they meet customer specifications and job order requirements.
Perform strength and tensile testing using measurement tools, including precise ruler measurements down to 1/64th of an inch.
Review products for correct color standards and consistency.
Test seal strength to confirm packaging integrity and compliance with quality standards.
Conduct visual inspections and detailed ruler measurements of pouches, ensuring all dimensions and features align with specifications.
Identify, document, and clearly communicate any pouch quality discrepancies or defects to the appropriate production personnel or machine operators.
Complete all required labeling, documentation, and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
Pack finished products into bundles and prepare them for shipping according to established procedures.
Work collaboratively with cleanroom team members and production staff on the manufacturing floor to maintain consistent product quality.
Follow cleanroom protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to all safety and quality procedures.
Perform repetitive quality checks and tests, including multiple measurements per pouch, while maintaining focus and accuracy over extended periods.
Support continuous improvement by reporting recurring issues and contributing to solutions that enhance product quality and process efficiency.
Essential Skills
Experience with quality control or laboratory testing; school-based experience is acceptable, though industry experience is preferred.
Background in a fast-paced environment such as production, manufacturing, or food service
Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform precise measurements down to 1/64th of an inch.
Effective visual inspection skills to identify defects, color variations, and other quality issues.
Good organizational skills and the ability to manage documentation and labeling accurately.
Comfort working with repetitive tasks and sitting for long periods while maintaining accuracy.
Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment with coworkers in the lab and production personnel on the floor.
Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
Comfort working in a cleanroom environment while wearing PPE and following strict protocols.
High school diploma or equivalent, or an associate degree; non-degreed candidates must have quality or lab experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate degree, preferably in a science-related field, is highly desirable.
Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled environment.
Familiarity with quality control inspection processes and documentation requirements.
Comfort working with films, foils, chemicals, and peelable solutions.
Friendly, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and occasional visiting clients.
Interest in long-term growth opportunities, including movement into other departments or leadership roles as they become available.
Work Environment
This is a 2nd shift position, typically working from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Initial training occurs on 1st shift, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for approximately 2 to 4 weeks or until you can perform the work independently.
The role is based in a cleanroom environment where you will wear personal protective equipment and steel-toed shoes and follow strict cleanliness and safety protocols. You will work closely with a small team of approximately four to five colleagues in the cleanroom and collaborate regularly with production personnel on the manufacturing floor. A significant portion of the day involves sitting and performing multiple precise measurements per pouch during quality checks and tests. The facility handles films, foils, chemicals, and peelable solutions used in healthcare packaging. Fragrances and phone use are not allowed in the lab to maintain product integrity and compliance. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
