Medical Office Assistant (Patient Access Representative)
Location: Bel Air, MD (On-site)
Schedule: Full-time | 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 months)
Pay: $21-$23/hour (potential flexibility for higher experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to support a busy physician practice serving both pediatric and adult patient populations. This role is ideal for someone with strong customer service skills and healthcare administrative experience who is looking to grow long-term within a reputable healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and check in patients in a friendly, professional manner
Answer and manage incoming calls while providing excellent customer service
Schedule and coordinate patient appointments
Verify insurance and collect necessary patient information
Accurately maintain and update patient records in an EMR system
Collaborate with providers and clinical staff on a daily basis
Ensure a positive patient experience from check-in through departure
Required Qualifications
1-2+ years of experience in a healthcare administrative or front desk role (medical office, scheduling, medical secretary, etc.)
Experience working within an EMR system (EPIC preferred)
Strong customer service and phone skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong computer proficiency and attention to detail
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a specialty medical practice
Pediatrics experience is a plus
Medical Assistants interested in transitioning to a front office role are encouraged to apply
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
