This role oversees complex, non-IT construction projects with a strong focus on data center environments and project turnover from construction to operations. The Construction Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates technical activities, manages project documentation and close-out, and serves as the primary liaison between construction teams, operations, and key stakeholders. The position is 100% onsite in Atlanta, GA and requires strong organizational skills, deep familiarity with data center construction milestones, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliverables to ensure operational readiness.
Responsibilities
Act as the primary liaison between the construction and operations teams during project turnover to ensure a smooth and timely handover.
Coordinate, collect, and verify all turnover deliverables, including as-built drawings, red-line markups, construction document sets, O&M manuals, and other close-out documentation.
Maintain a clear, organized tracking system for all turnover documentation to ensure timely delivery, completeness, and accountability.
Work closely with stakeholders, contractors, designers, and internal teams to identify, resolve, and document gaps or discrepancies in deliverables.
Develop and manage detailed turnover schedules that align with overall project timelines and milestones, particularly for data center construction.
Support and lead handover meetings, facilitating effective knowledge transfer sessions between construction and operations teams.
Ensure all documentation meets company standards and requirements for operational readiness and ongoing maintenance.
Coordinate projects from inception through completion, creating detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
Present and explain project proposals, reports, and findings to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
Recruit project team members as needed, assign and direct their work, and evaluate performance to maintain high levels of staff competence.
Oversee the development and maintenance of staff skills and capabilities to support project objectives and quality standards.
Analyze technology options, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility and viability of projects.
Confer with management, production, and related teams to discuss project specifications, procedures, and potential risks.
Review, recommend, and when appropriate approve contracts, cost estimates, and project budgets to ensure alignment with scope and objectives.
Apply knowledge of production processes, quality control, and cost management to optimize project efficiency and effectiveness.
Use project management tools and software to monitor progress, manage risks, and communicate status to stakeholders.
Essential Skills
Extensive experience (10+ years) in project management in construction or related non-IT fields.
Best-fit experience includes 5+ years of data center construction project experience.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, documents, and stakeholders.
Proficiency with Microsoft products, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, and Visio.
Verbal and written communication skills that enable clear reporting, documentation, and stakeholder interaction.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, particularly in reviewing technical documentation and contracts.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage one's time to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of production processes, quality control methods, costs, and techniques for optimizing the manufacture and distribution of goods where relevant to project scope.
Knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
Savvy understanding of data center construction milestones and their impact on project schedules and turnover.
Ability to coordinate technical activities and integrate the work of multiple disciplines.
Comfort using project management and documentation tools, including Bluebeam and P6 when applicable.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
PMI or PMP certification preferred.
Experience working with complex stakeholders, including contractors, designers, and operations teams.
Experience managing project close-out, including as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and other turnover documentation.
Experience presenting proposals, reports, and findings to senior stakeholders.
Familiarity with data center operational requirements and standards is highly desirable.
Work Environment
This is a 100% onsite role based in Atlanta, GA, working approximately 40 hours per week with no planned overtime at this time. The work environment includes both office and active construction site settings, particularly within data center projects. You will use standard office and project management software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio, as well as tools like Bluebeam and P6 if you have experience with them. The role requires regular presence on construction sites and adherence to safety requirements. Required equipment and attire include a monitor, keyboard, headset, and mouse, along with a Class 2 safety helmet, Class 2 or higher safety vest, cut and impact resistant gloves, ANSI Z87.1 or higher safety glasses or visor, composite toe work boots made of leather or leather alternative that extend at least 4 inches above the ankle (no low-cut or sneaker styles), and a Class 2 or higher reflective jacket suitable for cold and wet weather. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $100.00/hr.
