Accountant / Senior Accountant (level commensurate with experience)

Commerce Township, MI (Hybrid)

Our client, a long-standing and highly respected organization with decades of consistent growth and profitability, is seeking an Accountant or Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a confidential search conducted by Robert Half.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a stable yet evolving environment that values collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. The company provides a hybrid work schedule (3 days in-office) along with flextime, supporting strong work-life balance.

Position Overview

The Accountant will play a key role supporting financial operations across complex, project-based activities. This individual will work closely with operational leaders and senior management to monitor financial performance, analyze costs, and help drive informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Support month-end close and prepare accurate financial reports

Analyze project/job costs and evaluate financial performance

Assist in maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring compliance

Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

4+ years of progressive accounting experience (construction or project-based accounting experience preferred)

Strong understanding of job cost accounting and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition

Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

High attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively across teams
