Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Industrial Maintenance Technician repairs, maintains, and improves high-speed manufacturing equipment, with a focus on both mechanical and electrical systems up to 480V. This role performs preventative and reactive maintenance, troubleshoots PLCs and control systems, and ensures production lines operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. The technician also documents equipment performance, repairs, and downtime in a computerized maintenance management system.
Responsibilities
Repair and maintain traditional mechanical systems, including cams, drives, belt and sheave drive systems, to ensure reliable operation of production lines.
Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical systems up to 480V, following established safety and lockout/tagout procedures.
Troubleshoot PLC systems, including ladder logic, to diagnose and resolve equipment faults and control issues.
Monitor production lines for conditions requiring preventative maintenance and enter work orders into the maintenance system in a timely manner.
Create and execute repair plans to address identified defects before failure, minimizing unplanned downtime.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical failures on production lines, including motors, drives, and control circuits.
Maintain accurate records of equipment performance, repairs, and downtime using preventive maintenance (PM) processes and SAP work requests.
Read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints to support effective troubleshooting and repair activities.
Use maintenance tools and diagnostic instruments to perform inspections, testing, and repairs on manufacturing equipment.
Perform welding, machining, and parts fabrication or repair as needed to restore or improve equipment functionality.
Support predictive maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance practices.
Collaborate with operations and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, support production goals, and ensure safe equipment operation.
Essential Skills
2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, including ladder logic operation, logic analysis, and fault diagnosis.
Experience with electrical system troubleshooting up to 480V, including industrial electrical diagnostics.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints and schematics.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems such as drives, belts, sheaves, and cams.
Hands-on experience with motor controls and motor control circuits.
Demonstrated skill in preventative maintenance and manufacturing equipment diagnostics.
Ability to use maintenance tools and diagnostic instruments safely and effectively.
Experience with SAP or similar CMMS for entering and managing work requests and preventive maintenance tasks.
Knowledge of predictive maintenance concepts and practices.
Capability to perform welding, including acetylene, plasma cutting, and Heliarc/stick welding.
Experience with routine machining and parts fabrication and/or repair.
Understanding of equipment sequence of operation and how it relates to system performance and troubleshooting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with PLC operation, logic, and fault diagnosis in an industrial setting.
Familiarity with CMMS platforms and preventive maintenance programs.
Ability to interpret and follow safety, GMP, sanitation, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Background in high-speed manufacturing or food processing environments is beneficial.
Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical equipment in a production facility.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop repair plans to prevent equipment failures.
Effective communication skills to document work and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Work Environment
The position is based in a manufacturing and production facility supporting high-speed food processing lines. Work takes place primarily on the production floor and in maintenance areas, with occasional tasks in office or training settings. The environment involves regular exposure to mechanical and electrical equipment, including moving machinery and energized systems, and requires strict adherence to GMP, safety, sanitation, and lockout/tagout procedures. Team members can expect noise, temperature variations, and frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting as part of daily activities.
The role supports multiple shifts based on operational needs. Second shift is eligible for a shift differential, and third shift is eligible for a higher shift differential. Shift schedules, start times, and days worked are assigned by the facility and may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The position typically follows 12-hour shifts (such as 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. or 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.), with two consecutive days off that can be flexibly scheduled during the week, while still requiring weekend work. As staffing levels increase, there may be an opportunity to transition to 8-hour shifts. Scheduling and days off follow union and seniority-based guidelines. Company-provided uniforms and work boots are supplied as part of the standard dress and safety requirements for the facility.
