Job Description
This role supports construction activities at a large commercial facility in Syracuse by assisting field staff with a variety of tasks. The skilled laborer helps maintain a clean and safe job site, moves materials to and from work areas, and contributes to construction tasks such as carpentry, drywall, framing, millwork, and finish work. The position offers the opportunity to build experience on high-profile commercial projects while working closely with an established construction team.
Responsibilities
Assist construction staff with day-to-day tasks on active commercial job sites at a large facility in Syracuse.
Perform site cleaning and upkeep to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
Move materials, tools, and equipment to and from the job site and within the work area as directed.
Support carpentry-related tasks, including framing, drywall installation, millwork, and finish work under the guidance of experienced tradespeople.
Use hand and power tools safely and correctly in accordance with training and OSHA requirements.
Follow all safety procedures and actively participate in maintaining a safe job site, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to understand daily priorities and complete assigned tasks on schedule.
Assist with setup and teardown of work areas, including staging materials and tools for upcoming tasks.
Adapt to changing job site needs and support various construction activities as required.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of commercial carpentry or construction experience.
OSHA 10 Certification.
Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
Experience working on construction sites, including familiarity with commercial projects.
Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Basic carpentry skills, including framing, drywall, millwork, and finish work.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying materials, and standing for extended periods.
Strong awareness of job site safety practices and willingness to follow OSHA guidelines.
Dependable work habits, including punctuality and consistent attendance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with a variety of construction tasks across office, retail, healthcare, education, or industrial projects.
Ability to read and follow basic instructions and directions from supervisors and tradespeople.
Strong teamwork skills and willingness to assist others to keep the project on schedule.
Positive attitude and interest in developing skills that can lead to advancement into lead or supervisory roles.

Work Environment

The role involves working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of conditions typical of construction sites, including exposure to noise, dust, and changing weather. You will regularly use hand and power tools, handle construction materials, and work around equipment and tradespeople. Appropriate job site attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety and compliance with OSHA standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
