Job Title: Multicraft Maintenance Technician
Job Description
This role maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide range of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical production equipment in a large, modern food manufacturing facility. The technician reads and interprets manuals and work orders, performs routine calibration and preventive maintenance, and ensures that production machinery and support systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders to determine the scope of required maintenance and service.
Perform routine calibration and preventive maintenance on electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production machines and support equipment.
Maintain and repair electrical equipment, including electric motors, control boxes, welders, and PLC-controlled systems.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all conveyor systems, including both electrical and mechanical components.
Diagnose and resolve issues with mechanical, electric, and hydraulic motors, as well as associated electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Use test equipment such as multimeters to verify electrical conditions, identify faults, and ensure safe operation.
Apply knowledge of 3-phase power, VFDs, and control circuits to safely install, adjust, and troubleshoot motor and drive systems.
Follow established safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices while performing maintenance and repair work.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately and communicate equipment status to supervisors and production staff.
Essential Skills
Proven experience as a multicraft or multiskilled maintenance technician with a 50/50 mix of mechanical and electrical skills.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with 3-phase power systems and industrial electrical equipment.
Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance on electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, equipment manuals, and work orders.
Experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic understanding of control circuits.
Ability to maintain and repair electric motors, control boxes, welders, and related industrial equipment.
Skill in troubleshooting and maintaining conveyor systems, including both mechanical and electrical components.
Familiarity with the use of multimeters and understanding of readings such as OL (open line/open loop).
Knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs) and their primary purpose in controlling motor speed and torque.
Understanding of color codes for AC 3-phase motor wiring and low-voltage DC control wiring.
Ability to recognize standard electrical symbols, including the symbol for ground.
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in an industrial food manufacturing or high-volume production environment.
Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical systems as a true multicraft technician.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Effective communication skills to coordinate with production and other maintenance team members.
Attention to detail and a commitment to following safety procedures and company standards.
Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and equipment.

Work Environment
Work in a modern, climate-controlled food manufacturing facility that maintains comfortable temperatures overall, with some areas operating at cooler conditions due to production requirements. The environment includes industrial production lines, conveyor systems, electric motors, welders, PLC-controlled equipment, and a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Technicians typically work on the production floor and in maintenance areas, using standard industrial tools and test equipment such as multimeters and working around 3-phase power and control circuits. Appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety while working around machinery and electrical systems.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
