The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, invoicing, reconciliations, and month-end financial activities. This role serves as the first point of contact for accounting-related inquiries and plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Manage accounts payable functions, including invoice entry, verification, and timely processing of payments

Handle invoicing and statement review to ensure accuracy and completeness

Serve as the primary point of contact for internal accounting questions and issue resolution

Prepare and post accounting-related entries across various registers, journals, and logs

Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports and supporting documentation

Perform monthly bank reconciliations and daily bank activity tracking using spreadsheets

Maintain detailed reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts

Follow and adhere to the company's established accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency

Additional Skills & Qualifications

2+ years' experience in accounting or related field

Experience in a health care organization preferred

Proven experience as a accounts payable specialist

Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Familiarity with financial accounting statements

Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

Hands-on experience with accounting software packages - MAS90/Sage100 or similar (preferred)

Proficient in Excel; familiar with Vlookups and pivot tables

This is a Contract position based out of Sacramento, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
