A growing organization in the San Diego area is seeking an experienced Accountant to support daily accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role will work closely with finance leadership and operational teams to maintain accurate financial records and support the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced business environment. This position requires strong organizational skills, accountability, and the ability to maintain accuracy while meeting deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Operations

Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy

Perform bank, balance sheet, and account reconciliations

Support month-end and year-end close processes

Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed

Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for leadership review

Maintain organized accounting records and documentation

Support budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation activities

Assist with process improvement initiatives and workflow efficiencies

Financial Reporting & Compliance

Ensure compliance with accounting policies and GAAP standards

Assist with internal and external audit requests

Analyze financial variances and identify discrepancies

Support reporting deadlines and financial statement preparation

Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes

Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies accurately

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

Ability to prioritize deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

3+ years of accounting experience required

Corporate, manufacturing, or service industry experience preferred

Systems & Software

Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar preferred

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
