Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to support high-volume accounting operations in Virginia. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong reconciliation expertise, solid general ledger knowledge, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting with changing priorities. The role requires a hands-on contributor who can manage day-to-day accounting tasks while also recognizing opportunities to strengthen processes and improve accuracy.

Responsibilities:

Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial records.

Support general ledger activities by preparing, reviewing, and maintaining accounting entries and related documentation.

Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing activities with a focus on timeliness and accuracy.

Work within BlackLine to complete reconciliation workflows, track outstanding items, and maintain supporting schedules.

Manage accounting responsibilities in a high-volume environment while adapting to shifting business needs and incomplete information.

Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve transaction issues, clarify accounting data, and support daily operational needs.

Review existing accounting procedures, recommend practical improvements, and help implement more efficient workflows.

Assist with month-end and other recurring close activities to help maintain consistent and reliable reporting. Requirements - Demonstrated experience in accounting roles with a strong emphasis on account reconciliation.

Solid understanding of general ledger structure and operational accounting practices.

Hands-on experience using BlackLine in an accounting environment.

Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing processes.

Ability to perform effectively in a setting with heavy transaction volume and evolving priorities.

Strong analytical skills with the judgment to identify issues and recommend process enhancements.

Excellent communication skills and a consultative approach to cross-functional collaboration.
