Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports building and grounds maintenance during the spring and summer months and transitions into industrial maintenance training during the fall and winter. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to develop a long-term maintenance career within a manufacturing environment, working on both facility upkeep and production equipment support.
Responsibilities
Perform interior and exterior painting projects to maintain a clean and professional facility appearance.
Assist with basic roofing repairs and inspections to ensure building integrity and safety.
Complete minor concrete work and repairs, including patching, leveling, and maintaining walkways and pads.
Maintain the building exterior and grounds, ensuring the overall facility remains orderly and presentable.
Support general building maintenance tasks such as doors, fixtures, lighting, and other facility-related repairs.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment at all times.
Cross-train with the maintenance team on industrial equipment and systems used in a manufacturing and plating operation.
Assist with preventive maintenance on plating and production equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
Learn and apply basic mechanical troubleshooting and repair techniques on production and facility equipment.
Support maintenance activities involving pumps, motors, conveyors, and utility systems to ensure reliable operation.
Assist with equipment inspections, lubrication, and maintenance documentation to support compliance and reliability programs.
Continue to support facility maintenance tasks year-round, adapting to seasonal priorities and workload.
Collaborate with vendors and external service providers as needed, demonstrating strong communication and people skills.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2+ years of facilities maintenance experience.
Well-rounded skills in light electrical work, including basic troubleshooting and repair of facility electrical systems.
Basic plumbing skills for minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
Basic HVAC skills to support light heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance.
Carpentry skills for facility repairs such as doors, fixtures, and structural elements.
Strong interpersonal and people skills to interact professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders.
Experience performing preventive maintenance tasks in a facilities or industrial environment.
Mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability to learn and support industrial maintenance activities.
Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Willingness to work 8-12 hour days with a 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. start time, including some Saturdays as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with MIG welding on plastics and metals.
Knowledge of budgeting practices to help plan for repairs and maintenance projects.
Exposure to industrial maintenance, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with welding, automation, and basic ladder logic or PLC control concepts.
Experience with electrical troubleshooting, including three-phase systems.
Background in maintenance repair within facilities, building maintenance, or industrial environments.
Ability to work with drywall, painting, and general building finish work.
Interest in developing skills in PLC troubleshooting and industrial automation over time.

Work Environment
This position is based in a shop environment that can be cold, loud, and dirty, with older facilities and equipment typical of a manufacturing setting. You will work around production and plating equipment, pumps, motors, conveyors, and utility systems while performing both indoor and outdoor tasks depending on the season. The schedule involves a 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. start time with 8-12 hour shifts and some Saturdays as needed. Dress appropriately for a shop setting, with practical work attire suitable for painting, repairs, and exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures, along with any required personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
