This position is governed by state and federal laws and College policy. This role supports the College\'s mission of providing and ensuring quality educational programs for ASUN\'s various constituencies.rrThis position will be housed on the Newport campus but will work and supervise the libraries and work-study students on all ASUN campus locations as needed. This position will provide direct supervision to all part-time or work-study employees working in the library facilities on any of the ASUN campuses.rrQualifications:rr Minimum of two years of experience in professional library services and/or academic support services in a two-year college is preferred.rrEssential Duties and Responsibilities:rr Serves as the Coordinator for Academic Support Services for Arkansas State University-Newport.rr Promotes, develops, and assesses quality learning technology resources that align with local education program and community needs.rr Cultivates and maintains community partnerships to ensure local support of the College\'s education and Lifelong Learning programs.rr Exercises effective management skills through collegial communication with other ASUN departments.rr Provides effective management of fiscal policies and procedures within Library Services, Tutoring, Academic Support Services, and Lifelong Learning.rr Actively participates in activities geared toward resource acquisition, support, and funding to sustain program infrastructure, growth, and sustainability.rr Models effective decision making skills through use of the principles of shared leadership through open communication.rr Preparing and recommending for approval the budget for Academic Support Services.rr Oversees Library facilities and coordinates appropriate safety guidelines, training, and equipment.rr Coordinates special events related to Library Services, Tutoring, Academic Support Services, and Lifelong Learning.rr Serves on college-wide committees, special project teams, state and local committees, and community service and civic committees as needed, and acts as a professional and positive representative of the College.rr Maintains the expectations set forth by the American Library Association.rr Development and maintenance of records and reports needed for programmatic offerings, tutoring, early alert services, archival, and accreditation.rr Catalogs and maintains library holdings, including special holdings such as museum materials and archives.rr Design and set-up rotating book displays and other appropriate displays based on seasonal events and days of recognition.rr Serves as a frontline source of guidance to campus resources.rr Volunteers at community events.rrKNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLSrr Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.rr Ability to prioritize tasks, set goals, and establish methods.rr Ability to initiate and conduct research.rr Ability to direct and oversee the work of others.rr Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with others.rr Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.rr Ability to organize and conduct workshops and events.rr Ability to maintain a student-centric approach to library operations.rrEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCErMinimum of two years of experience in professional library services and/or academic support services in a two-year college is preferred.rrRESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENTrResponsible for the maintenance of all library and lifelong learning facilities and equipment. Responsible for academic support services equipment and archives.rrSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESrProvides leadership to part-time library, tutoring, academic support services, and lifelong learning staff.rrCOMMUNICATION SKILLSrExcellent communication skills are required. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals so others will understand; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from faculty, administration or the general public.rrCRITICAL THINKING SKILLSrAbility to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of unknown variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.rrSUPERVISION RECEIVEDrUnder direction of the Dean for STEM, working from policies and general directives.rrADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENTrKnowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.rrPLANNINGrConsiderable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a group of employees.rrDECISION MAKINGrPerforms work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of significant importance, either of which would significant
