POSITION SUMMARY:
This position specializes in mental health and substance use treatment, for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders. The PMHNP will deliver evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, including medication management and therapeutic interventions, within a multidisciplinary team setting. This role emphasizes recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and patient-centered care. This work will be conducted at all NTC Clinic locations, including the mobile clinic as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clinical Care:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental status exams, risk assessments, and substance use assessments

Diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders.
2.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
3.
Provide medication management, including initiation, adjustment, and monitoring of psychotropic medications.
4.
Utilize evidence-based practices such as MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) for substance use disorders (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone).
5.
Provide brief psychotherapy and psychoeducation to patients and families.
6.
Collaborate with therapists, case managers, social workers, and primary care providers.
7.
Coordinate referrals to higher levels of care when clinically indicated.
8.
Engage in discharge planning and continuity of care.
9.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
10.
Adhere to federal, state, and organizational regulations and standards.
11.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and case reviews.
12.
Foster a supportive, nonjudgmental environment for individuals in recovery.
13.
Promote harm reduction strategies and relapse prevention planning.
14.
Advocate for patient access to community resources and support systems.
15.
Professional focus on whole-patient care and quality outcomes.
16.
Orders, performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients clinical problems.
17.
Prescribes medication or other forms of treatment, as necessary.
18.
Collaborate with other health care team personnel and case management personnel with regard to documented patient treatment.
19.
Keeps appropriate records, per NTC/AAPC coding guideline policies on documentation.
Is open to complementary and alternative health practices, which are evidence-based (Integrative Medicine).
21.
Provides medication assisted treatment for patients with substance use disorders.
22.
Prescribe psychiatric medications per psychiatric provider recommendations.
23.
Participate in compliance, quality assurance and quality improvement activities as directed.
24.
Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners and outside providers patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving NTCCC services by NTCCC to your supervisor or their designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Masters or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health.
2.
Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Alaska.
3.
Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
4.
DEA license and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances.
5.
Minimum of [1-3] years of clinical experience in psychiatric and/or substance use treatment settings preferred.
6.
Experience in outpatient or community-based behavioral health strongly preferred.
7.
Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) protocols.
8.
Must obtain and maintain credentialing through Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC/ANTHC) credentialing for work with Indian Health Service beneficiaries.

11.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)certification is required.
12.
Must pass through a criminal background check with acceptable standards of character.
13.
Must have strong computer skills.
14.
Be available to travel and attend pertinent training/seminars/meetings as required and as the budget allows.
