THE POSITION
As an Administrative Officer 1 with the Northampton County Assistance Office, you will play a key role in coordinating staff, procedures, and office functions. Your work will help ensure that employees have the support and structure they need to serve the public effectively. Each day brings new opportunities to solve problems, guide staff, and improve processes. This position lets you make a real impact through steady leadership and strong communication.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position oversees clerical operations, administrative services, and support functions to ensure efficient office performance. The work includes supervising staff, coordinating procedures, and managing important operational tasks. As an Administrative Officer 1, you will perform the following duties:
Clerical Leadership: Direct clerical operations, supervise clerical supervisors, and guide workflow and staffing needs
Process Coordination: Plan and manage support functions including data entry, imaging, reception, and electronic benefit transfer (EBT) security
Policy Application: Interpret procedures, ensure compliance with agency rules, and recommend process improvements
Facility Oversight: Coordinate with building managers, monitor service contracts, and address maintenance issues
Fiscal Management: Track expenditures, manage purchase card accounts, and process invoices and documentation
Administrative Support: Prepare reports, conduct reviews, maintain equipment policies, and resolve system issues

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
Overtime and travel as operationally necessary
Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Northampton County. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with district offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree;or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
