A mission-driven organization is seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a seasoned finance professional who enjoys balancing strategic insight with operational execution.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to oversee a broad range of financial functions in a complex environment. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by strengthening processes, supporting leadership with financial insight, and guiding a high-performing accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily accounting and finance operations, including payables, receivables, payroll, general ledger, cash activity, reconciliations, and financial reporting

Lead month-end and year-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial statements

Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis

Supervise and mentor accounting staff while promoting strong internal controls and best practices

Support audits, tax-related filings, and regulatory reporting requirements

Monitor restricted funding, special projects, and other designated financial activity

Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insight for planning and decision-making

Help improve procedures, reporting, and overall financial operations across the organization

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Several years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility

Strong background in full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit support

Ability to work both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Prior experience in nonprofit, education, government, or other regulated environments is a plus

Advanced spreadsheet and financial systems knowledge preferred

CPA or advanced degree is a plus
