Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Advanced Psychoeducation Specialist provides direct patient care under the guidance of a designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH). May provide clinical and administrative supervision.
Essential Job Functions
Facilitates groups. Provides Individual activities tailored to specific needs of patients (within scope). May participate in family meetings and treatment team meetings.
Discharge planning in collaboration with Social Worker team
Community resource knowledge and coordination of activities; particularly in the area of specialized activities such as pet therapy, nutrition, yoga.
Completes leisure assessments
Care planning
May provide one-on-one(1:1) patient safety companion service as needed.
May provide 15-minute patient checks as assigned.
Assists with the onboarding of new and/or entry level Psychoeducational Specialists
May take on more complex tasks and/or projects as needed
Successfully participates to complete BSMH and departmental specific training as required

Licensing/Certification
Must be licensed, certified, or registered as appropriate by state and national licensing boards in one of the following:
Care Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (CTRS)
Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC)
Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P)
Therapy Credentialed Supervisor (ATCS)
Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC)
Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-DMT)
Occupational Therapist Licensed (OTR/L)
Education
Masters, Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, or Expressive Therapy (Music, Dance/Movement), Counseling, or Human Services (required)
Work Experience
1 year of experience in healthcare, social or human services setting (required)

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.?
Working Conditions
