Summary About the Position: This position is located in the U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers, Galveston District, Galveston Executive Office in Galveston, TX. This position can be filled at the GS-09 or GS-11 level depending on qualifications and management's discretion. Responsibilities The position provides advice, and recommendations and information to the Deputy Commander on a wide variety of critical, high-profile, time-sensitive and often controversial issues related to the management of the organization's activities. Perform and oversee administrative actions assigned to both the Executive Office and General and Administrative Staff. Provide recommendations to the Executive Officer for balancing workload among subordinate organizations and functions to increase effectiveness in order to meet the District's mission requirements. Assist the Executive Officer in preparation and administration of the executive office operating budget. Coordinate and integrate the activities of responsible organizational elements on special projects requiring a multi-disciplined, command-wide view. Coordinates with the Commander, Deputy Commander and the District's administrative staff, the staffs of other districts, higher headquarters, subordinate elements, and other Federal, state and local governmental agencies. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) providing administrative support to an organization, to include personnel support or position management; AND 2) Assisting an organization with budget execution or training/travel coordination; AND 3) Advising management officials on policy/regulatory changes affecting the organization or analyzing program/management problems to determine needs for improvement.
