Summary The incumbent of this position serves as the Chief, Die Manufacturing Division and is responsible to the Plant Manager for the administration of the entire division. The Division is responsible for the manufacturing of dies, die collars and master tooling required in producing coinage and medals at all U.S. Mint facilities. This position has direct impact on the agencies national mission which depends on the die and collars this division produces in order to manufacture coinage for the nation. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Die Manufacturing Specialist, you will: Plan and coordinate production schedules to utilize the productive capacity and facilities of the division. Coordinate customer priorities, and needs and modify production and delivery schedules, accordingly for all U.S. Mints. Develop standards for equipment, material and workflow and plans for expansion of operations or adapt new operations for special needs. Evaluate the adequacy of processes and equipment in use for the manufacture of dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures and direct the development of improvements. The incumbent has the final technical authority on purchase of new tools and equipment. Establish and maintain a comprehensive quality assurance program for all dies, tooling, and other materials manufactured or used by the division. Specialized experience for this position includes: -Providing senior-level executive management and oversight of high-level product production; AND -Providing leadership to subordinate managers and first, second and third-tier subordinate supervisors: AND -Using lean manufacturing techniques to manage resources, establish controls, promote efficiencies, and ensure quality products and process are used to meet the production goals. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
