Summary You will serve as a HOUSING MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Family Housing Division of NB SAN DIEGO. Responsibilities You will brief and counsel DoD, accompanied and unaccompanied personnel on leasing practices, standards of conduct, availability of assistance in resolving complaints, deposits and responsibility of occupants in normal care of premises. You will inspect landlord's properties, provide referrals and informational brochures/booklets. You will obtain listings of vacant living accommodations in apartments, houses, individual residences, housing developments and mobile home parks within the commuting vicinity in support of the Housing Referral Program. You will assist PPV housing tenants in resolving complaints and disputes concerning various situations in accordance with Business Agreements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting, explaining and applying technical requirements of public-private venture housing and facilities agreements; maintenance and quality inspection 2) Using housing software to maintain occupancy records, property account information, inspection records and condition reports; and 3) Preparing reports and point papers that include information relative to data collection, analysis and recommendation for action. Physical demands: The work does not involve any special physical demands other than occasional long periods of walking and standing while visiting real estate personnel/landlords or interviewing complainants, respondents or witnesses. Long periods of sitting are required while counseling families in the office, writing reports, completing case records, or entering information into the local area network. Due to the number of visitors and telephone calls, the environment is one of distractions. Work environment: Work is performed in an office utilizing the telephone, computer, copier and fax machines and attending meetings and training; and outdoors in the community driving a government-owned vehicle and traveling to and inspecting units or conducting mediation between tenants and landlords, driving customers and accompanying them to prospective available units in the civilian community (Showing Services), visiting landlords, agents, real estate offices, apartment complexes or private residences. There is some risk involved, as incumbents are often required to visit residences located in high crime areas of the city.
