Description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a team in Sunnyvale, California. This contract-to-hire opportunity is well suited for an accounting specialist who brings a strong grasp of core accounting practices, enjoys working closely with others, and can adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. The role offers the chance to contribute across day-to-day accounting operations while building knowledge of internal systems and reporting processes.

Responsibilities:

Record and review company credit card activity, ensuring transactions are accurately coded and posted in the accounting records.

Assist with general ledger maintenance by preparing journal entries and supporting the accuracy of account balances.

Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances to help maintain reliable financial data.

Contribute to month-end close activities by completing assigned tasks on schedule and supporting overall close accuracy.

Help assemble financial reports and presentation materials used for internal review and business reporting.

Set up and maintain project records within the company's accounting or project tracking system.

Partner with colleagues across the accounting team to support daily workflows and shared departmental priorities.

Learn internal tools and procedures, including project-based accounting systems, through hands-on training and ongoing team support.

Requirements - 2 to 5 years of accounting experience, or comparable practical experience demonstrating strong potential in a staff accounting role.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; candidates with relevant experience may also be considered.

Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting principles.

Experience handling credit card transaction processing and supporting month-end accounting tasks.

Ability to prepare accurate financial information with strong attention to detail and sound organizational skills.

Comfortable working in a collaborative team setting and contributing where priorities may shift.

Quick learner with the professionalism and adaptability to understand new systems and processes efficiently.

Exposure to tax-related work such as corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support is a plus.
