The Operations Manager directs the implementation of manufacturing strategies to ensure that production meets established operating levels and business objectives. This role leads a large team, drives manufacturing department goals, and applies deep technical and analytical expertise to execute policy and strategy. The Operations Manager integrates best practices across functions, maintains a strong awareness of competitive factors in the market, and champions continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Direct the implementation of manufacturing strategies to achieve and sustain the operating levels defined by business management.
Drive business priorities and translate them into clear manufacturing department goals and actionable plans.
Lead, develop, and mentor a large operations workforce, including direct responsibility for staffing, performance development, and talent growth.
Define and implement monitoring and control mechanisms to prevent risks, failures, or deviations that could affect operating levels.
Identify, communicate, and resolve production issues to ensure consistent output and adherence to schedules.
Identify, communicate, and resolve quality issues to maintain high product standards and compliance with internal and external requirements.
Identify, communicate, and resolve safety issues, promoting a strong safety culture and adherence to all safety protocols.
Maintain and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify sources of inefficiency and drive performance improvements.
Utilize data analysis to understand operational trends, diagnose root causes, and support data-driven decision-making.
Apply lean methodology, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
Act as a resource and subject matter expert for colleagues with less experience, providing guidance and support on technical and operational matters.
Lead small projects with low risk and resource requirements, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
Explain complex information in a clear and structured way, helping team members reach consensus on key topics within the operations function.
Set clear performance expectations for team members and provide regular feedback and coaching.
Handle sensitive personnel and operational issues with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
Document, plan, and execute operational programs and initiatives that support strategic goals.
Collaborate with other functional areas to ensure that operations integrate effectively with broader business processes and objectives.
Essential Skills
Proven operations management experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 8 years in manufacturing operations.
Demonstrated experience managing large teams, including management responsibility for a workforce of over 500 people.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to hire, develop, and retain talent and to manage performance effectively.
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing operations, production management, and operational best practices.
Proficiency in setting, monitoring, and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational performance.
Experience with lean methodology and continuous improvement practices in a manufacturing @context.
Working knowledge of Six Sigma principles and tools for process improvement and defect reduction.
Strong data analysis skills to interpret operational data, identify trends, and support decision-making.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and build consensus within teams.
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs that support operational and strategic objectives.
Solid understanding of how operations integrates with other business functions and awareness of competitive differentiators in the market.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in engineering, operations management, business, or a related field.
Experience applying lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive measurable improvements in quality, cost, and delivery.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a structured approach to risk identification and mitigation.
Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Experience handling sensitive personnel issues with discretion and professionalism.
Ability to influence and collaborate across functions to align operations with broader business strategies.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment with high expectations for performance and accountability.
Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
