Job Description: To provide general supervision to groups of skilled and unskilled workers engaged primarily in the repair, renovation, and general maintenance operations of MnDOT - Metro District buildings and other structures and in some minor new construction. This individual will work with all phases of maintenance and construction work and will exercise some management responsibilities for the proper maintenance of buildings, purchasing of materials and labor, supervision of personnel, and the preparation of sketches and plans. Perform various semi-skilled and skilled installations and repair in and around all buildings and grounds and to assist all trades persons, at times, in performing their responsibilities at MnDOT - Metro District various facilities and properties.
*Note - Must be able to report to work within one hour of being called in to work.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of supervisory OR two years of lead experience directing the work of trades (e.g., Carpenters, HVAC, Electricians, and Plumbers), construction or maintenance staff sufficient to plan and supervise the work of employees in licensed building trades and other occupations, who perform building and grounds maintenance, repair and construction work.
Experience working as a project leader, sufficient to motivate and direct the work of other staff on project and work tasks, plan and supervise the work of employees in licensed building trades and other occupations who perform building and grounds maintenance, repair and construction work and to effectively plan, organize and schedule building labor forces and guide employees in the completion of job expectations.
Experience with commercial maintenance activities including HVAC, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems, as well as building and grounds maintenance. This would include extensive experience and knowledge in all mechanical, HVAC systems, electrical, structural, janitorial, and building grounds aspects of building construction, repairs, and maintenance.
Extensive experience with the ability to read blueprints and specifications, create drawings, material lists and estimates.
Experience applying State of Minnesota building and safety codes and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. This would include extensive knowledge of local and state codes and regulations related to building and building worker activities and functions, as well as OSHA safety standards.
Thorough working knowledge of maintenance and operations, construction techniques and procedures, and building and grounds maintenance equipment and practices.
Basic computer skills with knowledge and application of windows based operating systems, spreadsheet applications, and word processing applications.
Required Licenses:
Valid Class D Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of supervisory experience directing the work of trades, construction or maintenance staff.
Three years of lead work experience directing the work of trades, construction or maintenance staff.
Experience in project management, facilities management, construction management or business management - or a degree/coursework in facility management, construction management or related field.
Extensive knowledge of fuel dispensing systems and disposal.
Knowledge of, and experience with, Mn/DOT Safety Standards.
