Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician performs hands-on mechanical work to fabricate and assemble aerospace structures and components using standard hand tools, power tools, and inspection equipment. This mid-level role focuses on precision sheet metal fabrication and structural assembly for aircraft and aerospace applications, following detailed work instructions, process sheets, and blueprints to ensure high quality and compliance with specifications. The technician operates a variety of forming and machining equipment, handles delicate aerospace components with care, and supports both assembly and machining operations through cross-training.
Responsibilities
Perform technical mechanical work using standard hand tools, power tools, and inspection equipment to fabricate and assemble aerospace components.
Operate sheet metal fabrication and structural assembly equipment, including deburring tools, hot forming equipment, water jets, and small CNC machines.
Assemble aircraft and aerospace components for large structural assemblies in a manufacturing facility.
Carry out deburring, routing, polishing, shear and saw operations to prepare and finish metal parts.
Perform press forming, draw forming, brake forming, stretch forming, roll forming, and hot forming operations on metal components.
Check and straighten parts and perform basic heat treating operations as required by work instructions.
Follow detailed work instructions, process sheets, and blueprints to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand dimensions, tolerances, and assembly requirements.
Handle delicate aerospace components with care and precision to avoid damage and maintain quality standards.
Conduct basic visual and dimensional inspections using appropriate inspection tools to verify part conformity.
Accurately complete documentation such as routers, inspection logs, and other production records.
Set up machines and equipment for production runs in accordance with specified procedures.
Troubleshoot basic mechanical or process issues during assembly or machining and escalate when necessary.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all safety protocols and shop practices.
Cross-train in both assembly and machining tasks to support workforce flexibility and production needs.
Collaborate with teammates and communicate effectively to support steady workflow and production goals.
Essential Skills
Proven experience performing mechanical assembly in a production or manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience using standard hand tools and power tools for mechanical and structural assembly.
Ability to set up machines and equipment for sheet metal fabrication and assembly processes.
Demonstrated skill in mechanical assembly and aircraft or aerospace assembly processes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and process sheets.
Experience operating sheet metal and forming equipment such as deburring tools, presses, brakes, and forming machines.
Capability to perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical and process issues during production.
Competence in conducting basic visual and dimensional inspections using inspection equipment.
Strong attention to detail and precision when handling delicate aerospace components.
Ability to accurately complete production documentation, including routers and inspection logs.
Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area while following safety protocols.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with aircraft assembly, aviation structures, or aircraft mechanical work.
Experience in working with airframe or structural aerospace components.
Familiarity with small CNC equipment and water jet operations.
Exposure to deburring, routing, polishing, shear and saw operation, and related finishing processes.
Experience with press forming, draw forming, brake forming, stretch forming, roll forming, and hot forming.
Knowledge of check and straighten techniques and basic heat treating processes.
Interest in cross-training across assembly and machining functions to increase flexibility.
Comfort working from detailed technical drawings and process documentation in a regulated industry.
Ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit, communicative team.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility focused on aerospace structures and assemblies, working with sheet metal fabrication and structural assembly equipment. You will regularly use standard hand tools, power tools, inspection equipment, deburring tools, presses, brakes, forming equipment, water jets, and small CNC machines. The position typically follows a weekday schedule with options for a day shift (Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) or a night shift (Monday through Friday, approximately 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.), supporting consistent and steady production. The environment is hands-on and shop-floor oriented, with an emphasis on safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr.
