The Operations / Project Manager oversees field operations, project execution, estimating, and account growth within an environmental services setting. This role focuses on managing crews, ensuring operational performance, and supporting business development as the company expands its service offerings. The position is ideal for a hands-on leader who can balance field operations, client relationships, and strategic growth initiatives while running a busy remediation division.
Responsibilities
Manage and oversee approximately 20 field personnel and 2 office staff, ensuring teams work effectively and collaboratively.
Lead daily operations across multiple concurrent projects, maintaining high standards of productivity, safety, and quality.
Provide clear direction and expectations to field crews and maintain accountability for performance and results.
Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management of field staff to build and retain a strong operational team.
Oversee projects from award through completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, and scope are met.
Manage a wide range of project sizes, including public projects up to $15M and private projects typically ranging from $25K to $75K, including smaller environmental waste pickup projects.
Coordinate resources, subcontractors, and internal teams to meet project goals and client expectations.
Review job costs, productivity data, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Support and perform estimating for new and existing work, contributing to accurate bids and proposals.
Develop projections and forecasting to support operational planning and resource allocation.
Track budgets, margins, and overall project financial performance to ensure profitability.
Provide input into pricing strategy and workload planning to align operations with business objectives.
Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining strong, professional relationships.
Support account management and new business development activities to grow revenue and expand services.
Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and increase service utilization.
Help evaluate and grow new lines of business within the company's service offerings.
Assist leadership in expanding operational capacity and enhancing service offerings across the remediation division.
Help standardize workflows, processes, and best practices to improve operational efficiency.
Provide operational insight and feedback to support company growth initiatives and strategic planning.
Operate in a hands-on, fast-paced environment, regularly engaging with field operations and office staff.
Essential Skills
Strong experience managing field crews, with a proven ability to lead, direct, and hold teams accountable in the field.
Proven project management experience in environmental services, construction, or related industries.
Experience with estimating and comfort reviewing job costs, projections, and financial performance metrics.
Demonstrated ability to support forecasting, planning, and operational decision making.
Experience supporting account management and client relationships, including acting as a primary point of contact.
Ability to balance field operations, client needs, and business development priorities.
Comfort working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent projects.
Strong operations management skills, including resource coordination and workflow oversight.
Effective supervision and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and develop field and office staff.
Solid management skills, including performance management and team development.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
No college degree required; candidates from a variety of educational backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
No certifications or licenses required; existing certifications in environmental, construction, or related fields are a plus but not necessary.
Willingness to obtain additional certifications as needed, with support available to pursue relevant credentials.
Background in environmental services, remediation, or similar operational environments is highly beneficial.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with crews, office staff, leadership, and clients.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial and operational data to drive decisions.
Interest in contributing to the growth and expansion of new business lines and service offerings.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position with direct responsibility for managing approximately 20 field laborers and 2 office team members within the remediation division. The role involves frequent interaction with field operations, including oversight of crews performing environmental and remediation work, as well as coordination with office staff handling project support and administration. The environment is fast paced and hands on, with multiple projects running simultaneously and a strong focus on safety, productivity, and quality. The position offers close collaboration with company leadership and decision makers, providing the opportunity to influence operational strategy and business growth. The work structure follows a contract-to-hire model, offering a stable, long-term opportunity with competitive compensation and eligibility for overtime.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $68.00/hr.
