Overview
This position is responsible for managing production and maintenance services to the company's respective generating assets to ensure adequate generating capacity, safe and reliable equipment operation in order to meet system generation requirements in the most cost-effective manner.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Plans, directs, and controls operating and maintenance activities so as to provide an accident-free workplace, and to ensure the safety of personnel working at the production facilities. Investigates accidents, reviews accident reports and takes corrective action as required.
Directs the operation of the generating assets to meet system demands, environmental requirements, and business objectives through the coordination and scheduling of unit outages, load restrictions, personnel scheduling, and utilization of resources supplied by other departments and vendors.
Ensures the safe and effective operation and maintenance of equipment and ensures production interruptions are minimized.
Leads and directs all operational and maintenance activities in a manner that supports a commitment to customer service.
Directs, leads, and supports continuous improvement of operating practices and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency in the utilization of the generating assets.
Directs, leads, and supports continuous improvements of maintenance activities for unit and equipment outages (planning, execution, communication, and follow-up).
Develops recommendations and long-term strategic initiatives in support of asset role and business objectives. Provides information and assists in the development of plant budget, operating and investment plans.
Coordinates and reviews the results of testing programs for units, equipment, and systems to determine optimal use and cost-effective operating practices and procedures.
Leads preventive and predictive maintenance activities aimed at improving reliability and availability.
Ensures optimum allocation of O&M personnel and resources through work order prioritization, scheduling, and (daily) work assignments.
Oversees and approves on-site contractor's performance and scope of work.
Manages the review of equipment maintenance records for accuracy.
Supports inventory optimization using risk analysis and parts availability in conjunction with vendor partnering. Reviews and approves orders for parts, material, and equipment associated with Maintenance Services projects.
Leads and supports the development of effective processes and procedures for providing maintenance support to the generating facilities.
Develops leaders and employees by providing coaching, career counseling, and developmental opportunities. Provides vision and serves as a role model for leadership throughout the organization.
Takes an active role in managing and improving employee performance. Directs the development of procedures and systems which monitor individual performance, establishes goals for operating efficiency and effectiveness and manages attainment of these goals. Ensures completion of annual performance reviews.
Establishes training objectives for personnel and provides opportunities to ensure employees are properly trained.
Administers and/or reviews disciplinary action for operation and maintenance personnel while ensuring consistency and uniform application of work rules and contract language.
Ensures leadership and employee development through formal and informal processes of coaching, performance feedback, and training.
Ensures compliance with regulation, reporting requirements, and permits at production facilities. Ensures uniform application and consistency of Company policies and procedures for personnel.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
10+ years job-related experience of 8 years or more in Power Generation.
Demonstrated outstanding skills and performance at the supervisor level may be substituted for some of the direct power plant experience requirement.
A thorough knowledge of generating plant equipment and maintenance processes.
Formal supervisory experience is desired.
Preferred Qualifications

Possesses strategic thinking capability for developing ideas and plans that support total business objective/goals.
