Job Description:

35% - Conceptualizes, plans, facilitates, and evaluates programming to support Graduate Student Teaching Assistants (GTAs). This includes developing and overseeing the New GTA Orientation program content as well as other professional development programs for graduate students. Also includes program evaluation activities such as soliciting feedback from attendees and facilitators, analyzing the feedback and using it to modify program.

25% - Plans, facilitates, and evaluates other programming in collaboration with and for post-doctoral scholars, and faculty to build community around teaching, promote e?ective, and innovative teaching strategies, and support teaching scholarship. This includes developing new programming or redesigning current programming to meet emerging needs of the community.

20% - Coordinates program and project logistics as needed. This includes facilitating communication among CTE project leaders and participants, scheduling and planning project events, coordinating assessment of project activities and impact, and monitoring budget.

10% - Write or contribute to reports, scholarly presentations, and publications on CTE projects (both grant-funded and internally-supported).

5% - Serve as primary consultant for individual instructors or departmental groups who contact CTE.

5% - Participates in professional development opportunities and connects with a network of educational development professionals across and outside the university.

Required Qualifications:

An earned master's degree by date of appointment.

At least 1 year of experience teaching courses in higher education.

Demonstrated project management, data management, and evaluation experience as evidenced by application materials.

Strong communication and collaborative skills, including administrators, faculty members, staff, and students as evidenced by application materials.

Strong written communication skills, as demonstrated by examples of prior work and application materials.

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector, ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry aligned practices, enhances collaboration with external partners, and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

An earned doctoral degree by date of appointment.

Significant involvement with programs in teaching innovation and/or faculty development, as evidenced by application materials.

Experience in graduate student professional development as evidenced by application materials.

Experience mentoring peers or students as evidenced by application materials.

Evidence of active involvement in local, regional, or national discussion on teaching and learning in higher education.

Experience coordinating research on teaching and learning and/or with human subjects. Demonstrated background in the scholarship of teaching and learning and evaluation of student learning, educational research, or discipline-based educational research.

Work experience demonstrating good judgment and strong initiative as verified by former supervisors.

Experience meeting deadlines with an attention to detail as evidenced by application materials.

The University of Kansas Center for Teaching Excellence seeks a GTA and Faculty Program Manager (Education Program Manager) to develop and implement programs that foster teaching excellence and innovation in faculty and graduate teaching assistants (GTAs). The Program manager will plan and implement programs that support improved teaching and community-building opportunities for KU instructors, with particular emphasis on novice teachers including GTAs and junior faculty. Faculty and GTA Program Manager reports to the Director of CTE and is a key member of the CTE leadership team.
