Job Title: Skilled Construction Laborer - (Commercial Carpentry)
Job Description
This role leads hands-on carpentry work on commercial construction and remodel projects, typically ranging from $1 million to $3 million. You will oversee and perform the construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures on projects such as mixed-use commercial spaces, office spaces, gas stations, fast food restaurants, and commercial upfits. The position requires strong carpentry skills, the ability to interpret blueprints and specifications, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Lead and perform carpentry work on commercial construction and remodel projects from start to finish.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and plan work activities.
Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, steel, and other materials using a variety of hand and power tools.
Install structures and fixtures including framing, steel framing, drywall, doors, windows, frames, flooring, trim, and finish carpentry elements.
Perform finish carpentry tasks such as installing trim, molding, and detailed woodwork to a high standard of quality.
Inspect existing structures, framework, and fixtures, and repair or replace damaged components as needed.
Support adaptive reuse and historic restoration projects by carefully modifying or restoring existing structures while preserving key features.
Collaborate closely with other construction professionals and trades to coordinate tasks and keep projects on schedule and within budget.
Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
Apply OSHA 10 safety principles in daily work and promote a safe job site for all team members.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, safe, and good working condition.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project status, issues, and material needs.
Work regular weekday shifts and overtime as needed during the week and occasionally on Saturdays to meet project deadlines.
Essential Skills
At least 4 years of experience in commercial construction or residential remodel construction.
Proven experience as a carpenter in commercial construction environments.
Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
Strong proficiency in using hand and power tools for framing, drywall, and finish carpentry.
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for precise measurements and cuts.
Solid understanding of carpentry techniques, methods, and best practices for commercial projects.
Experience with commercial construction and retail construction projects.
Experience with steel framing, drywall installation, and finish carpentry.
Knowledge and practical experience in adaptive reuse and historic restoration work.
OSHA 10 certification.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, standing, and working on ladders or scaffolding.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with project teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Journeyworker-level carpentry experience is highly valued, especially for higher pay consideration.
Demonstrated ability to manage tasks independently while also contributing as part of a crew.
Experience working on mixed-use commercial spaces, office spaces, gas stations, fast food restaurants, and commercial upfit projects.
Ability to maintain productivity while upholding high quality and safety standards.
Strong sense of responsibility and reliability, including consistent attendance and punctuality.

Work Environment
Work takes place on 100% commercial construction sites, including commercial offices, fast food locations, gas stations, and commercial upfit projects. The role is primarily field-based and hands-on, involving daily use of hand and power tools, steel framing systems, drywall materials, and finish carpentry tools and equipment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m., with overtime worked during the week and occasionally on Saturdays to meet project deadlines. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with adherence to OSHA 10 principles and local building codes. Work conditions include indoor and outdoor settings, exposure to typical construction-site noise and materials, and the need for appropriate job-site attire and personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
