General Laborer / Construction Labor - $18 an hour

Eldridge, Iowa

8:00am-4:30pm

Job Description

This is a physically demanding, entry-level General Laborer role focused on preparing work sites, handling materials, and supporting skilled trades on masonry, concrete, and paving projects. You will work with hand and power tools, assist with material movement, and help maintain clean, organized work areas in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

Clean, prep, and organize work areas for masonry, concrete, and paving projects.

Load, unload, and move materials such as rip-rap, fencing, pipe, concrete, asphalt, and stone.

Support skilled trades by staging materials, tools, and equipment as directed.

Consistently lift and carry materials weighing up to 75-100 lbs throughout the shift.

Use hand and power tools such as shovels, rakes, saws, tampers, and similar equipment safely and effectively.

Operate small machinery, including skid steers and rollers, as directed and once trained.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, properly disposing of debris and waste materials.

Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work effectively as part of a small team to meet production and project timelines.

Adapt to working both indoors on a warehouse manufacturing line and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Essential Skills

6 months to 1 year of manufacturing or construction experience.

Ability to consistently lift 75-100 lbs throughout the workday.

Experience performing general labor tasks in an industrial, construction, or similar environment.

Basic ability to use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and similar equipment.

Willingness and physical ability to work in a physically demanding role.

Ability to work safely around machinery, materials, and other team members.

Reliability and punctuality to support daily production and project needs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience using power tools such as saws and tampers is a plus.

Experience operating small machinery such as skid steers or rollers is a plus.

Comfort working in dusty, dirty, and outdoor environments.

Ability to follow verbal instructions and work effectively within a small team.

Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new tasks and equipment.

Work Environment

Work is performed both indoors on a warehouse manufacturing line and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The environment can be dirty and dusty at times and involves frequent heavy lifting and continuous physical activity. You will handle concrete, masonry, and related materials in an industrial setting. Required safety gear includes a hardhat (when indoors), safety vest, and steel-toe footwear. This is a first-shift position with opportunities for overtime in a fast-paced, physically active setting that combines indoor and outdoor tasks.

This is a Contract position based out of Eldridge, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
