Summary The Supervisory Program Specialist position is organizationally aligned to the Business Office within the Community Care Service at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, Chicago, IL. The Community Care/RCT ACD Supervisory Program Specialist serves as the direct line supervisor for the Lead Medical Support Assistant(s) and all Medical Support Assistant (MSA) staff in the assigned clinical areas and is a foundational role within the Community Care, Referral Consult Team, and ACD line operations. Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES: -Develops, reviews, analyzes, implements, and conducts training based on departmental needs. -Performs analysis of audit findings related to consult management and scheduling. -Assesses training and education efforts to determine the effectiveness of the training program while keeping abreast of any changes or updates to directives related to consult management and scheduling. -Provides detailed guidance to staff concerning consult management and scheduling. -Works with supervisors, managers and service chiefs to resolve discrepancies or conflicts with established consult management. -Provides consultation and assistance in implementation of performance improvement activities. -Provides essential administrative clinic management and scheduling support to Physicians, Advanced Provider Practitioners, Nurses, Dietitians, Social Workers, and other administrative and clinical staff throughout the service area and Community Providers. -Perform other duties as assigned. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience in extracting, developing, reviewing, and analyzing data to provide reports to senior management; performs a variety of administrative functions for several clinicals ; experience writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); understanding of Joint Commission requirements; experience working with different program databases and software to pull information for reports; perform auditing functions; Manage staff workflow, set priorities, deadlines and adjusting work flow to meet team and patient needs; working experience of clinic operations and policy, schedules, and provider's preferences. OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL. B or J.D., if related, obtained in an accredited college or university, may be substituted to qualify for the grade 9, Program Specialist position. One year of full-time graduate education is the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one (1) year of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours will be considered an academic year of graduate study. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED). OR Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the Program Specialist position, which may be substituted to meet the experience requirements of the position. For example, 6 months of appropriate specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 (50 percent of the experience requirement for GS-9) and 1 year of successfully completed graduate education (18 semester hours), as is described above, (50 percent of the education requirement for the GS-9) would qualify for a GS-9 position.
