The Opportunity
The Manager - Supply Chain Contracts, holds a pivotal role within the organization, providing comprehensive focus and strategic direction to drive negotiation of supply chain contracts. In this position, you will provide expert guidance in shaping end-to-end contract management development experiences at a manager level.
The ideal candidate for this position is a professional with expertise in contracting practices, demonstrated through a successful track record of leading high-stakes contract management and negotiation efforts and a proven leader. As a Manager - Supply Chain Contracts, you will assist sourcing to oversee the entire contracting process, ensuring the Ally supply chain contracting objectives are being met as well as managing all aspects of risk within the contract.
The Manager - Supply Chain Contracts, will also provide contracting governance and advanced contract management support for the Supply Chain organization, resolving complex contract issues and guiding non-standard deal structures using deep knowledge of core Ally Supply Chain processes.
The Work Itself
Negotiate favorable terms and contracts to secure the best value and reliability for the company.
Review and resolve complex contract management issues and navigate non-standard deal structures using deep knowledge of core ASC processes; escalate issues with a strong understanding of key contractual risks and business impacts.
Design and implement enablement programs (e.g., playbooks, training, deal reviews, office hours) to grow the Sourcing team's contracting capability and consistency.
Determine appropriate contract constructs and terms for agreements; partner with Legal to ensure alignment with standards, playbooks, and template requirements.
Identify, assess, and help mitigate risks across individual contracts and contract portfolios; recommend risk management strategies to strengthen contracting governance.
Provide oversight of contracting controls and ongoing monitoring (e.g., adherence to standards, regulatory compliance, approval thresholds, audit readiness); ensure third-party requirements and obligations are identified, documented, and met throughout the contract lifecycle.
Lead continuous improvement of contracting processes, controls, and templates to improve quality, efficiency, and cycle times.
Develop and deliver contracting reporting and dashboards (e.g., cycle time, deviations, risk trends) to inform prioritization and performance improvement.
Identify, pilot, and help implement contracting technology (e.g., CLM/workflow, intake tools, automation); define requirements, support testing, and drive change management and adoption.
Establish and govern a contract data strategy (key data elements, taxonomy/metadata, data quality controls) to enable reporting, insights, and process optimization.
Communicate legal risk and complex information clearly across written, verbal, and visual formats; address stakeholder concerns accurately and concisely with timely follow-through.
Build strong stakeholder relationships and routines; facilitate collaboration across stakeholders and ASC teams to align on priorities and outcomes.
Manage direct reports and/or project teams, including prioritization, delegation, coaching, and delivery against objectives.
The Skills You Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Juris Doctorate (JD) required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in contract negotiations. Experience managing and negotiating contracts in regulated industry such as financial services.
Comfort with risk profiles of a broad range of commodities, including services, marketing, credit bureaus, and technology.
Experience negotiating complex agreements with global suppliers.
Knowledge of supply base and sourcing business practices specific to financial services.
Ability to articulate legal risk to business customers and team associates.
Knowledge and understanding of outsourced vendor agreements, including technology and software agreements.
Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience.
Strong collaboration and partnering skills.
Ability to prioritize projects and coordinate multiple tasks within time constraints
High degree of initiative and strong ability to meet key responsibilities with limited direction and oversight.
In good standing with at least one state bar, a plus.
