The Finance organization at American Express is seeking a manager-level candidate to drive the development and delivery of Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities across Finance. This role will play a critical role in shaping how AI technologies enhance decision-making, transform operations, and create new analytical capabilities across the organization.
Description:
You will be responsible for supporting, defining, and driving the end-to-end product lifecycle - from ideation through implementation - of AI-driven solutions that enable the Finance organization to operate with greater precision, insight, and speed.
The successful candidate will combine a strategic mindset and product ownership expertise with strong critical thinking, an understanding of financial processes, and a passion for emerging AI technologies.
This is a highly visible role requiring close collaboration across Finance, Technology, Risk, and other enterprise partners to deliver practical and scalable solutions. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of Finance through innovation and execution.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Support strategy development and drive execution of overarching AI Transformation Office roadmap, driving progress of expanding workstreams, milestones, and deliverables
Partner closely with Finance, Technology, and business stakeholders to design and implement AI solutions that address key Finance priorities and focus areas
Translate business objectives and needs into technical specifications and user stories, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical execution
Stay informed of emerging trends in AI, ML, LLMs, and agentic technologies, and evaluate their applicability to organizational efforts
Develop evaluation criteria, success factors, and KPIs for new capabilities and existing areas of focus; identifying potential risks, key issues, and generating solutions
Thrive in a whitespace environment, identifying new opportunities, building momentum, and influencing across a matrixed organization
Qualifications
Qualifications:
3 - 5 years of work experience within one or a combination of the following areas: Management Consulting, Financial Services, In-House Strategy, Product Management
Comfortable in an evolving environment; capability to translate ideas into well-defined executable strategies and solutions
Ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize different activities while maintaining accuracy and adhering to tight deadlines
Proven experience in program management and delivery of products requiring cross-functional coordination
Strong relationship management with a track record of positively collaborating, influencing, and coordinating with internal and external partners
Strong executive presence and proficiency in written and verbal communication
Superior analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative) coupled with an ability to assess a situation without always having the full picture
Financial literacy or direct experience working in Finance or similar analytical domains
Understanding of AI technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, large language models and generative AI
Demonstrated experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences and vice versa, bridging the gap between academic outputs and real-world applications
Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders across levels the Enterprise
Bachelor's degree required
