Job Overview:
Ruth Batson Academy (RBA) is a pilot school offering a college-preparatory course of studies that is designed to promote the leadership capacity of students to be change agents in their communities. RBA students develop crucial academic and leadership skills. RBA is seeking an innovative Operations Manager to work with the multiple programs within the school.
The Operations Manager will manage multiple tasks associated with the multiple programs and work to establish, implement and maintain systems that will ensure a highly effective and well-functioning learning environment, assessment procedures, data and data collection systems, and personnel management. Operations Manager must be able to work with multiple stakeholders and school partners to help deliver the best experiences possible for RBA students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedules and Program
Support the development of a master schedule (including Early College)
Develop/Maintain systems across multiple programs within the school to ensure the smooth functioning of schedules and programs (to include daily duties of entry, lunch, dismissal)
Ensure the sustainability of school systems and monitor system functionality
Perform analysis and assessment of systems on a regular basis
Manage system to ensure classroom coverage and monitor staff absences
Support and manage enrollment operations
Monitor shifts in student enrollments
Communicate changes with impacted staff
Monitor student placements and programs for effectiveness and efficiency
Complete necessary paperwork for student transfers
Support Budget items for programs and partnerships
Work with the budget team to ensure timely successful management of all budget related items including ordering, stipends, purchase orders, grants, etc.
Recognize and identify areas of concern and communicate the need for adjustments
Partnership Management
Support work with key community partners including UMASS and HUB school initiative
Establish and maintain successful relationships with members of the community in close collaboration with school administration
Design and implement structures to identify and recruit community partners to support
students
Continue to seek and build new partnerships, with a focus on maximizing resources
Assessments
Ensure assessment schedules are followed
Order, receive, ship, safeguard, distribute and account for all testing materials
Ensure accurate upload of assessment data: MCAS, WIDA, MAP (and other state assessments)
Ensure all assessments are properly staffed
Ensure all staff are properly trained and tests accurately proctored
Data Management
Help to develop, coordinate and administer data retrieval and collection systems, surveys, (school climate, attendance, programming, health and wellness, safety, etc.) to help identify promising practices/address areas of improvement
Maintain systems to track credits and graduation requirements
Help to identify and define systemic patterns/problems, monitor ongoing efforts to address challenges
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree or higher
Minimum of 2 years experience working in data collection and reporting
Experience in program and/or project management, evaluation, and analysis
Familiarity with state and other district assessments
Mastery of Office Suite; Excel required
Strong organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create trusting relationships
Successful experience with planning and conducting meeting; and facilitation and training methodologies
Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities guiding investments in people and systems (Acute attention to detail and project completion)
Demonstrate capability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, such as school staff, school partners, families, youth, community members and other essential
internal and external partners
Comfort with handling multiple projects simultaneously as well as working with rapidly shifting priorities
Experience working with diverse student populations
Commitment to self-reflections and ongoing learning
Experience developing and monitoring systems for quality improvement
Current authorization to work in the United States
An understanding of and commitment to gain greater understanding of what is necessary for an urban school system to enjoy continuous improvement in an increasingly complex and competitive environment.
A deeply held and unyielding belief in the overarching mission of public education.
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:
Post graduate degree in a relevant discipline
3-5 years experience in urban setting
Familiarity with Boston and Boston Public Schools
Terms: Managerial Tier C

NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency requirement. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
