Job Description
Polson High School Activities Director
REPORTS TO: HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises and evaluates all athletic coaches, cheerleading advisor, pep band advisor and speech & debate coaches.
Assists in selecting and assigning all coaching personnel.
Assumes leadership role in the orientation and in-service training of coaching personnel.
Be visible in the school community and recognized as an educational leader who is responsive to the school's and community's needs.
Supervise monitoring of student attendance and investigate when appropriate.
Assist in planning and supervising school student activity programs.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
Assures that all coaches have first aid and CPR certification and that all safety and emergency procedures are followed.
Implements, oversees, and enforces athletic training policies, including the physical, academic, and training requirements of eligibility for participation.
Assures that all facilities are properly maintained and safe for each activity.
Schedules all athletic contests and events.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities at all home contests in accordance with the Board's policies, rules, regulations, and/or directives and applicable laws.
Provides for security and sufficient work force for all home contests in accordance with the Board's policies, rules, regulations, and/or directives and applicable laws.
Provides for officials at all home contests.
Implements and assures that all Montana High School Association (MHSA) rules and procedures are followed.
Represents the Polson School District in matters of interscholastic athletics with the MHSA.
Develops and continues to evaluate appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.
Schedules and processes all activities travel requests. Arranges housing when overnight travel is required.
Conducts parent meetings before each athletic season and fosters good school-parent relations by maintaining communications relative to rules and regulations on athletics.
Completes and submits all school, district and state reports as required.
Supervises and implements advertising programs.
Provides for concessions at all home events.
Oversees the athletic budget. Approves and finalizes all athletic orders.
Schedules high school facilities for school and public use.
Actively seeks divisional and state Class A tournaments that positively impact the community and school.
Oversees planning for awards banquets.
Oversees and coordinates award/incentive programs and assemblies.

Effectively manage time and responsibilities, sometimes within severe time constraints.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Class 3 Montana teacher certificate.
Principal's endorsement preferred.
Recommended five years' experience as a classroom teacher.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The employee frequently will work irregular or extended hours while performing the duties of this job.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk, and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments.
MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee must maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions. The employee is frequently involved in social interaction which requires oral and written communication.
