A total of one (1), 1.0 FTE Advanced Practice Professional (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening.

Responsibilities*
Act as a primary psychiatry provider for child and adolescent patients with eating disorders both within the Partial Hospitalization Program, Intensive Outpatient Program and outpatient setting, collaborating closely with the supervising faculty psychiatrist.
Provide comprehensive mental health care, including psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and medication management
Perform daily patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the team, along with regular documentation.
Serve as an essential part of the multidisciplinary team and attend team meetings, family meetings, and care coordination meetings to provide clinical care.
Communicate with members of the team, family, schools, and other current or past providers to assist with coordination of care.
Staff cases seen with the supervising faculty psychiatrist
Engage in quality improvement and other academic projects with the faculty psychiatrists, and other members of the interprofessional team, as they arise and as time allows
Provide teaching to trainees and students that observe or rotate through the clinical spaces you are involved in
Required Qualifications*
Required Qualifications (NP):
Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan
Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner OR a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or Family Nurse Practitioner with additional Psychiatric Mental Health certification, training, or education
Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
One or more years of clinical experience with children/adolescents with eating disorders or in child psychiatry
Current DEA registration or plan to obtain.
AHA BLS required
Required Qualifications (PA):
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
Certificate of Added Qualification in Psychiatry from the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or additional Psychiatric Mental training and education
Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP in the state of Michigan.
One or more years of clinical experience with children/adolescents with eating disorders or in child psychiatry
Current DEA registration or plan to obtain.
AHA BLS required.

Desired Qualifications*
One or more years of practice as an NP or PA.
Completion of a Child or Adolescent Mental Health fellowship
Previous experience in intensive outpatient programming, day programming, partial hospitalization programming with experience in problem-solving, crisis management, and de-escalation of distressed patients is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as measured by references and interviews.
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated problem solving skills.
Demonstrated high level of critical thinking and medical knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to share clinical care ideas and collaborate across multiple patient care services and to communicate assertively as a patient advocate.
Ability to multi-task and work on a collaborative team.

Work Schedule
Hours: 40 per week
Shifts: 8-hour shifts, Days Monday-Friday
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
