Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Durham, North Carolina. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting the organization's accounting functions. This position is ideal for someone who is attentive to detail, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to enhance financial processes.

Responsibilities:

Manage daily accounting functions, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations.

Oversee month-end close procedures and ensure accurate bank reconciliations.

Support annual audits and compliance efforts, collaborating with external auditors as needed.

Handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes while providing light HR support.

Develop and improve standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency.

Ensure compliance with fund and grant accounting requirements, maintaining accurate records.

Collaborate with the Controller and other team members to achieve organizational goals.

Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Expensify to streamline processes.

Monitor financial transactions and proactively address discrepancies.

Assist in managing financial reporting and analysis for decision-making purposes. Requirements - A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with a strong foundation in financial operations.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

Proficiency in accounting systems, including QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Expensify.

Experience in non-profit or public accounting is highly preferred.

Strong knowledge of month-end close, account reconciliation, and general ledger processes.

Ability to work independently while identifying and implementing process improvements.

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Familiarity with grant and fund accounting practices is a plus.
