Job Title: Temporary Bookkeeper (16-Week Assignment)Job Description
This full-time, 16-week temporary Bookkeeper role provides essential coverage during an employee's maternity leave and supports day-to-day accounting operations in a construction-focused environment. You will handle accounts payable and receivable, job costing, payroll support, and general ledger tasks while maintaining accurate financial records and supporting office operations. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who can quickly adapt to established processes, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced, construction-oriented office.
Responsibilities
Process vendor invoices by verifying purchase orders and matching packing slips to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Prepare weekly check runs and ensure timely payment of subcontractors and suppliers.
Generate customer invoices and follow up on outstanding receivables to support healthy cash flow.
Code expenses to appropriate jobs and cost categories to support accurate job costing and project financial tracking.
Maintain accurate job files and assist project managers with cost reports and project financial information.
Track subcontractor compliance, including certificates of insurance (COIs), W-9s, and lien waivers.
Assist with weekly payroll processing, including reviewing timecards for accuracy and correct job coding.
Maintain employee records and support HR with onboarding documentation as needed.
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Assist with month-end close activities and contribute to financial reporting.
Maintain organized digital and physical accounting records for easy retrieval and audit readiness.
Answer phones, greet visitors, and provide general office and administrative support.
Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to facilitate smooth operations and resolve issues promptly.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Deltek ComputerEase, or similar systems.
Strong understanding of job costing, accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, and payroll fundamentals.
Experience with AP/AR invoicing and general accounting processes.
Solid math skills to support accurate financial calculations and reconciliations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
High attention to detail and accuracy in all financial and administrative tasks.
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial and employee information.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams, vendors, and subcontractors.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Construction industry background strongly preferred, particularly in construction accounting or job costing.
Experience supporting multiple departments within an organization.
Familiarity with payroll and accounting software, with current use of Deltek ComputerEase considered a plus.
Experience in bookkeeping or accounting within a growing or dynamic company environment.
Interest in gaining exposure to multiple parts of a construction business and contributing to cross-functional operations.
Work Environment
This role is 100% on-site in an office environment in Pacific, WA. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will work in a professional office setting with regular interaction with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams. The position is a temporary assignment lasting approximately 16 weeks, aligned with coverage for FMLA leave, with the possibility of extension depending on business needs. The environment offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a growing construction company and to work with accounting and payroll technologies such as Microsoft Office and Deltek ComputerEase. Temporary employees in this role receive a competitive hourly rate but are not eligible for full-time benefits. Professional office attire is expected.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
