Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Responsibilities The incumbent directly supervises, guides, and oversees the activity of clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and trainees across VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) Pharmacy Service as well as develop policies and procedures. The supervisor works directly with pharmacy personnel and other key stakeholders and committees to optimize and operationalize cost-effective medication therapy management solutions. The supervisor assists Pharmacy Service management with the responsibility for planning, organizing, and directing activities resulting in high quality patient care in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Responsible for the oversight of all operations and control of all medications issued to inpatient area. Responsible for the development, revision, implementation, and updating of policy and standardized operating procedures for assigned areas of responsibility in alignment with VHA Directives, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) guidance, and other applicable mandates. Responsible for all performance and process improvement activities in the Inpatient Pharmacy including quality assurance reviews, direct observations, competency reviews, peer reviews, and other reviews. Maintains effective relations with medical, professional and administrative staffs of the healthcare system, external stakeholders, and patients/caregivers. Responsible for providing professional guidance to medical and professional staff. Responsible for assuring that all aspects of drug control, drug accountability, and drug security are in accordance with local and national policies.
