Job Title: Certified Nursing AssistantJob Description
This full-time Certified Nursing Assistant role provides hands-on patient care and support in a large rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility. You will deliver compassionate daily care, ensure a clean and safe environment, assist with nutrition, and support patients' comfort and independence while working closely with the charge nurse and interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in accordance with established care plans and under the direction of the charge nurse.
Attend required meetings, orientations, and trainings as directed by the charge nurse and facility leadership.
Clean and tidy patient rooms and related areas each shift, ensuring all spaces and items remain neat, sanitary, and properly labeled according to policy.
Serve meals in a timely manner and monitor patients' dietary intake, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the charge nurse.
Respond immediately to call bells whenever observed, regardless of patient assignment, and ensure patients always have the call bell within easy reach.
Maintain patient safety at all times by observing and correcting environmental hazards and using protective devices as ordered.
Follow established emergency, fire, and disaster procedures as taught during training.
Report any items that need to be ordered, repaired, or replaced to the charge nurse.
Accurately document all care provided on the appropriate forms during and at the end of each shift.
Demonstrate high standards of customer service when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
Follow directions from the charge nurse and promptly report back with updates, changes, or concerns about patient status.
Use computer systems and electronic documentation tools, including Microsoft applications and SigmaCare, as required for patient records and communication.
Essential Skills
Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification from an accredited program.
At least 6 months of experience working in a similar healthcare or skilled nursing setting, with openness to entry-level candidates who are bilingual in Spanish.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Strong patient care skills and a commitment to compassionate, person-centered care.
High level of customer service and professional communication skills.
Ability to follow directions accurately and report back clearly to the charge nurse.
High attention to detail and patience when working with patients and completing documentation.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft applications.
Ability to work the 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. full-time shift and to work at least every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience using SigmaCare or similar healthcare electronic record systems.
Bilingual Spanish language skills are highly valued, especially for candidates with less than 6 months of experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated reliability and professionalism in a healthcare or customer service environment.
Work Environment
The role is based in a large, 705-bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility in Northern Manhattan that is dedicated to providing quality care and supporting health and independence for individuals needing short- or long-term care. You will work a full-time 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift and must be able to work at least every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). The environment is fast-paced and patient-focused, with frequent interaction with residents, families, and healthcare professionals. You will use computers and electronic health record systems, including Microsoft applications and SigmaCare, for documentation and communication. The facility offers a supportive culture with opportunities for long-term career growth, including a 12-month contract-to-hire path, union membership upon conversion to permanent employment, and access to benefits such as holiday pay differentials, retirement plans including a 403(b) and employer-paid pension, and potential sign-on bonus or student loan forgiveness once converted to a permanent role. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
