Physical Therapist - Acute Care

Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, TX 75231

Work hours: Full-Time - 40 hours/week

Five 8-hour shifts on Monday-Friday OR Four 10-hour shifts on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Scheduled hours are flexible between 7:30am-6:30pm Weekend requirement - flex off 2 weekdays to cover 2 weekend days per month. Holiday Requirement - 1 major holiday, 1 minor holiday, and a day supporting a major holiday and a day supporting a minor holiday.

Staff - led process improvement teams dedicated to high quality, evidence-based care.

Texas Health Dallas is a Level 1 Trauma Center and DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center

Here's What You Need

Bachelor's Degree: Completion of Physical Therapy program required Experience in Acute Care preferred PT - Physical Therapist; Texas Physical Therapy License upon hire required and BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly upon hire required and Good verbal and written communication skills in English, Problem solving ability, Ability to teach others, Time Management skills, Good interpersonal and customer service skills, Basic leadership skills

What You Will Do

Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.

Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license.

Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely.

Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary.

Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment).

Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self-management and assistive equipment.

Maintains patient safety throughout treatment.

Communicates with physicians and other healthcare personnel as appropriate regarding patient care issues.

Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs.

Motivates non-compliant or unmotivated patients to participate in therapy.
