Job Description
As Executive Director, Commercial Data Science and Data Management, you will report to the VP of Global Decision Sciences and Insights. Based in either Foster City, CA, or Parsippany, NJ (although NJ location is preferable), you would hold responsibility for managing the strategic direction, oversight of all data management activities and data science vision across Insights and Analytics, G9 core countries, and brands. Continue to build and evolve data science capabilities for US and Ex-US markets and serve as center of excellence at scale. You would also work in close collaboration with Marketing Sciences, Affiliate Insights and Analytics leadership, the R&D organization, Procurement, Medical Affairs, IT, and other functions at Gilead and is expected to operate with a "one Gilead" mindset.
The ideal candidate will work well with these different functions and stakeholders, to implement the Commercial data backbone and Data science capability. Finally, you would be responsible for evolving the Data Science and Data Management capabilities backbone for our Commercial organization. Integrate and design data strategy of the enterprise to match the most complex use cases of data science to enable simplistic use cases to be managed organically. Create standards of excellence for data quality and work seamless with IT leadership and Affiliate leadership for effective use of process and infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities
Lead data science vision and capabilities for Gilead commercial and work to build predictive sciences at scale, deep machine learning methodologies that can drive investment allocation, Next best action, Patient and HCP journey for US and G9 markets focused on strategic use cases
Expert in predictive methodologies and developing applied data science to drive competitive edge for commercial organizations and can provide oversight and be an advisory for statistical methodologies and best practice sharing on data science algorithms
Partner with IT ML Ops teams and create operating processes for productionizing data science solutions at scale.
Experience in driving, building and rolling out Omni channel Analytics capabilities including but not limited to automated micro segmentation, decision engine and integrated patient and HCP journey.
Deep understanding of consumer like digital analytics capability and measurement framework
Provide leadership to operationalize commercial data governance, in sync with the Global Data & Analytics backbone Implementation & enterprise efforts
Help design Data and AI governance & business rules governance. Draft, implement and own data usage policies for commercial organization.
Define, implement and manage operating model and change management considerations for data governance across commercial
Jointly own leadership of the data office and steer the commercial point of view to support impactful use cases
Co-own the data budget with key affiliates and be the decision maker of key data purchases and contracting to enable simple to complex use cases including Omni channel, digital quantitative patient journey and next best action
Partner:
Collaborate with other functional leads to develop and implement a harmonized data acquisition process, data on-boarding, and utilization considerations.
Serve as the internal expert for consulting on the existing data sources, along with the pros and cons.
Organize knowledge sharing sessions, bringing in industry experts and vendor partners with information on trends and best practices
Collaborate with Marketing Sciences as the data partner to deliver actional insights to the business
Operate and drive with Enterprise mindset, with a strong focus on outcome
Ensure Data Quality, Privacy and Protection:
Build a team that will deliver data governance, data quality in partnership with affiliate and IT
Publish key data governance policies (e.g. Data Quality, Data Definition, Data Creation policies), in collaboration with cross functional data governance council
Partner with legal and compliance to account for and uphold diverse privacy and compliance requirements across geographies.
Operationalize technology and process-based protections for data integrity, privacy, and regulatory compliance, including assurances for analysis validity
Be abreast of the changing regulations relating to Pharma Commercial Data and ensure compliance with the regulations - from the systems and data consumption perspective
Leadership:
Impeccable credibility as a commercial data and data science expert in the industry and partner to the brand teams, country teams and other cross-functional partners
Enable internal and external data scientists and marketing sciences colleagues to leverage data & systems available by providing resources, tools, and trainings
Negotiate "One Gilead" mindset to contracts with third party providers
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 16 years experience, or a minimum of 14 years' with an advanced degree (e.g. MBA/MS or Doctoral degree)
Proven leadership in the pharmaceutical and or/health tech industry. Knowledge of analytics approaches in biopharma including descriptive and predictive analytics as well as primary research approaches in competitive intelligence, quantitative and qualitative market research
Understanding of emerging capabilities in natural language processing, unstructured data, etc. and potential application in pharma/health care
Ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business recommendations
Recruited, developed, mentored and motivated executives as well as built teams of Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Data Designers that deliver results and achieve objectives to support business needs
Excellent influencing and networking skills paired with stakeholder management experience in a multi-layered global environment
Experience in Agile methodology and execution and design thinking
Availability to travel internationally as required

The salary range for this position is:
Other US Locations: $274,550.00 - $355,300.00.
Bay Area: $302,005.00 - $390,830.00.
Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
