Construction Manufacturing Technician in Nashville, TN
Job Description
As a Manufacturing Technician in a busy fabrication shop, you will operate industrial machinery and tools to support plumbing, piping, and sheet metal production. You will measure and cut materials, use hand and power tools, and document your work using iPads and computers. This role involves working with heavy components, supporting material movement with forklifts, hoists, or cranes, and contributing to a safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
Operate machinery and equipment in the fabrication shop, including saws and other industrial machines.
Measure and cut materials accurately using tape measures and other measuring tools.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete fabrication tasks.
Support the movement and positioning of heavy components using forklifts, hoists, or cranes (with training provided if needed).
Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.
Use iPads and computers to document completed work and track tasks in the shop.
Follow detailed instructions, shop drawings, and work orders to complete plumbing, piping, and sheet metal assemblies.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping and basic housekeeping tasks as needed.
Work overtime when required to meet production schedules and workload demands.
Demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn and grow within the fabrication environment.
Essential Skills
Experience working in an industrial or construction environment.
Comfort and proficiency working with hand tools.
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
Experience with hand and power tools in a fabrication or similar setting.
Ability to operate or learn to operate industrial machinery such as saws.
Comfort using technology, including iPads and computers, to track work.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude toward learning and long-term employment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a fabrication shop is a significant plus.
Plumbing or piping experience from the field, a fabrication shop, or technical school is highly desirable.
Experience in sheet metal, welding, or construction is beneficial.
Exposure to plumbing, pipe fitting, or related trades is an advantage.
Willingness to receive training on forklifts, hoists, or cranes as needed.
Interest in building a long-term career in the trades and potential future field work.

Work Environment
This role is based in a fabrication shop environment in Nashville, approximately two miles south of downtown, working in either the plumbing/piping department or the sheet metal department. Standard hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with the expectation of overtime as needed; overtime is typically achieved by starting as early as 5:00 am, and recent schedules have often run from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm. Saturdays may be required occasionally depending on workload, and there is no Sunday work. Lunch is scheduled at 12:30 pm. The work takes place indoors in a shop setting rather than on a jobsite, using industrial machinery, saws, hand and power tools, and digital tools such as iPads for tracking work. Steel-toe footwear is required for safety. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $20.00/hr.
