Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The facilities maintenance technician assembles and wires a wide range of production projects, from simple cable harnesses, electrical cabinets, and mechanical frames or guards to complete turnkey automation systems that integrate both electrical and mechanical assemblies. Working from parts received from the warehouse and instructions provided by the engineering team, this role independently manages assembly projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed accurately, professionally, and on schedule.
Responsibilities
Receive production job parts and materials via job tote, verifying each item against the pick list for accuracy and checking for damaged goods.
Maintain clear organization, accountability, and proper storage of all production job components while they are on the shop floor.
Independently lay out electrical panels based on drawings and specifications, obtaining final approval from electrical engineering.
Assemble and wire electrical panels using best practices and industry standards to ensure quality, reliability, and safety.
Assemble mechanical systems, including aluminum extrusion frames, guards, and multi-discipline electro-mechanical assemblies such as automation work cells, following prints and drawings.
Apply creativity and attention to detail to produce professional, high-quality finished products that meet design and performance expectations.
Troubleshoot, test, and rework electrical and mechanical systems to resolve issues and ensure proper operation.
Perform field service work, including electrical and mechanical assembly or retrofit activities at customer or off-site locations as needed.
Maintain and continually improve the organization of the shop floor, tools, and materials to support efficient workflows.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of processes related to assembly, wiring, testing, and field service activities.
Essential Skills
Proven experience with mechanical and electrical assembly in a production or manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
Strong skills in assembling and wiring electrical panels in line with industry standards and best practices.
Hands-on experience assembling mechanical systems such as aluminum extrusion frames, guards, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for assembly and installation work.
Ability to troubleshoot, test, and rework both electrical and mechanical systems to correct faults and optimize performance.
Strong organizational skills to manage parts, materials, and components for multiple jobs on the shop floor.
Capability to work independently from engineering instructions and prints, taking projects from start to completion on schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with electronic assembly and wiring of cable harnesses, control cabinets, and related components.
Comfort working with multi-discipline automation systems and automation work cells.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing professional, high-quality finished assemblies.
Ability to perform field service work, including on-site assembly, retrofits, and system adjustments.
Continuous improvement mindset, with interest in refining shop floor organization and assembly processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norwood, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
