Job Title: Warehouse Associate - Inventory Control (Afternoon Shift)
Job Description
The Warehouse Associate in Inventory Control works on the 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM shift and is responsible for accurately managing inventory within a large distribution facility. This role combines reach truck operation, material handling, and computer-based inventory work to ensure products are stored, replenished, and documented correctly. You will collaborate closely with picker-packers, maintain organized storage areas, and follow safety and inventory procedures to keep operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities
Operate a reach truck and other powered industrial equipment to move materials safely throughout the warehouse.
Complete dropdowns and place stock in the correct rack, shelf, or bin locations according to established sequences.
Work closely with picker-packers to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies on warehouse racks.
Replenish racks and storage locations as needed and accurately document all inventory movements in the computer system.
Sort, label, and organize inventory on racks, shelves, and bins to maintain a clean and orderly storage environment.
Perform approximately 50% computer-based work and 50% physical labor, depending on daily workload and operational needs.
Enter and update inventory data with a high level of accuracy, ensuring records reflect actual stock levels.
Apply strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to identify and correct inventory issues.
Follow all safety procedures and warehouse protocols while operating equipment and handling materials.
Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and resolve issues.
Handle and move materials safely, including lifting items up to 50 pounds as required.
Maintain an organized work area and contribute to overall warehouse cleanliness and efficiency.
Essential Skills
Experience with inventory, inventory control, and warehouse inventory processes.
Ability to operate a reach truck and other power equipment in a warehouse setting.
Proficient computer skills for data entry and inventory management tasks.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve inventory problems.
Ability to perform basic math calculations for counts, adjustments, and reconciliations.
Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for the 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM shift.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to follow instructions and document inventory accurately.
Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform regular material handling tasks.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including basic use of Word and Excel.
Comfort working in a warehouse and distribution environment with both physical and computer-based tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
1 year of documentation experience, including clear verbal and written communication skills.
1-2 years of experience using systems that support inventory management such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
1 year of experience working in a distribution warehouse environment.
1 year of experience operating a reach truck.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and related office software.
Experience with data entry and documentation in a warehouse or distribution setting.
Background in material handling within warehouse or distribution operations.

Work Environment
You work in a combined warehouse and office facility of approximately 145,000 square feet that serves as a regional hub in Upstate New York. The environment includes active distribution operations with racks, shelves, bins, and designated inventory areas, as well as office spaces for computer-based tasks and documentation. You regularly use powered industrial equipment such as reach trucks, along with computers and standard office software like Microsoft Word and Excel, to manage inventory. The role follows an afternoon shift from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM and involves a balanced mix of physical activity and desk-based work. The setting is fast-paced, safety-focused, and designed to support efficient warehouse and distribution operations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
