Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Garden Grove, California. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounts receivable and general ledger management.

Responsibilities:

Record daily cash transactions from the bank into the organization's accounting system.

Keep the accounts receivable ledger up-to-date and well-organized.

Prepare and complete weekly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.

Create and post journal entries during the month-end closing process.

Conduct credit checks and perform sanctions screening for new and existing accounts.

Lead and participate in overdue debtors review meetings to address outstanding balances.

Assist in following up on overdue payments to ensure timely collections.

Respond to ad-hoc data requests and provide accurate financial information as needed. Requirements - Proven experience with general ledger accounting and accounts receivable processes.

Proficiency in using Great Plains Accounting software.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Familiarity with performing credit checks and sanctions screening.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to conduct bank reconciliations and handle month-end journal entries.

Experience in preparing and analyzing financial data.

Knowledge of standard accounting practices and procedures.
