MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT

Location: Silver Spring, MD

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Work Environment

Busy outpatient clinical setting

Patient-facing front office and clinical support role

Supportive team with opportunities for growth and advancement

Free parking available (no Metro access)

Schedule

Monday through Friday

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (flexible start time up to 8:30 AM)

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Rate: $20.00-$25.00/hour

Duration: 6-month contract with potential for extension or permanent hire

About the Role

The Medical Office Assistant supports day-to-day clinic operations by providing high-quality patient care, front desk support, and clinical assistance. This role is ideal for someone with strong customer service skills and experience in a healthcare or medical office setting, looking to grow their career in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

Answer and screen incoming phone calls; route appropriately and take messages

Schedule and coordinate patient appointments

Greet patients, visitors, and staff and assist with inquiries

Collect required documentation and accept patient payments

Prepare patients for physician visits and escort them to exam rooms

Assist providers during exams and procedures

Clean and prepare exam/procedure rooms between patients

Follow up with patients after procedures and relay updates to providers

Maintain patient charts, appointment logs, and billing records

Pre-register patients for upcoming appointments

Required Skills & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Entry-level experience in a medical office or healthcare environment

Strong patient care and customer service skills

Experience with patient registration and insurance verification

Familiarity with medical terminology

Experience using EHR/EMR systems (Epic preferred)

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment

Top Skills - Must Haves:

Medical Office Assistant experience

Nice to Have Skills:

Experience in a Women's Health or specialty clinic

Experience assisting with medical procedures

Prior authorization experience

Prescription refill support

Administrative or procedural background

Epic EHR experience

This is a Contract position located in Olney / Silver Spring, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay rate for this position is $20.00-$25.00 per hour.
