Job Title: Project Manager
Job Description
This role leads the full lifecycle of electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, with a strong focus on safety, scheduling, quality, and financial performance. The Project Manager oversees project planning and execution, manages subcontractors and vendors, and ensures projects meet scope, budget, and timeline expectations. The position requires regular communication with clients and internal teams, along with light travel to job sites approximately 1-2 times per month for 1-2 days at a time.
Responsibilities
Lead full lifecycle project management for electrical projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Ensure accountability for safety, project scheduling, execution quality, and overall financial performance.
Own project profit and loss management, including cost forecasting and adherence to established budgets.
Write detailed subcontractor scopes of work and manage subcontractors and vendors throughout the project.
Oversee procurement activities, including ordering and tracking materials required for project execution.
Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews on engineering drawings and field installations.
Lead client communication, serve as a primary point of contact, and resolve technical and project-related issues promptly.
Maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive project schedules using appropriate project management tools.
Prepare and manage meeting documentation, including agendas, minutes, and action item tracking.
Organize and maintain accurate project files and documentation for easy access and audit readiness.
Oversee project billing processes and ensure timely and accurate invoicing and supporting documentation.
Support daily operational needs of the project, including coordination of field activities and resource allocation.
Track jobs and manpower to ensure proper staffing levels and efficient use of resources across projects.
Monitor and report on job progress, identifying risks and issues early and implementing corrective actions.
Support the sourcing, evaluation, and estimating of bid opportunities to help build and maintain a strong project pipeline.
Provide logistical project support, including scheduling deliveries, coordinating site access, and organizing equipment needs.
Delegate tasks effectively across internal teams to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve project processes, tools, and reporting where needed.
Use CRM systems to track client interactions, project information, and follow-up activities.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of electrical experience in a construction or related environment.
Experience with job tracking, including monitoring project progress and performance.
Experience with manpower tracking, including scheduling and coordinating field personnel.
Hands-on experience ordering and managing materials for electrical projects.
Demonstrated experience interacting with clients and managing client expectations.
Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and coordination.
Proficiency with Microsoft Project for project scheduling and tracking.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data tracking, reporting, and analysis.
Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn and use new software tools.
Clear written and verbal communication skills for client and internal communication.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing multiple projects and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Preferably 1 or more years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager (APM), though candidates with strong foreman-level experience are also considered.
Experience as an electrical foreman or similar field leadership role is beneficial.
Experience using Salesforce CRM for tracking client interactions and project-related data.
Experience using ServiceNow or similar service-oriented CRM platforms.
Familiarity with electrical construction drawings and the ability to review them for QA/QC purposes.
Ability to analyze project financials, including forecasting and cost control.
Strong problem-solving skills to resolve technical and operational issues on projects.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Professional demeanor and ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Work Environment
The Project Manager works in a blended office and field environment, spending most time in an office setting using computers, project management software, and CRM systems, with light travel to job sites approximately 1-2 times per month for 1-2 days at a time. Site visits may involve exposure to active electrical construction environments where safety practices and personal protective equipment are essential. The role requires frequent use of tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and CRM platforms including Salesforce and ServiceNow. Work hours typically follow standard business schedules, with flexibility required at times to meet project deadlines or address urgent site needs. Collaboration with field teams, subcontractors, and clients is routine, creating a dynamic environment that combines planning, coordination, and on-site verification of work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $48.00/hr.
