Overview
Provides management for a process-driven organization having broad spans of control. This position is responsible for managing the LG&E overhead distribution and downtown network (DTN) along with commercial / residential underground, street lighting, and engineering functions related to the four core distribution operating processes: Connect New Customers, Enhance the Network, Operate and Maintain the Network, and Repair the Network for Electric Overhead Distribution Systems, with accountability for achieving metrics and implementation of process improvements. This position is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all established federal, state, local DOT, and PSC regulations while assuring timely and quality service on all customer related activities.
Responsibilities
Manages construction, operation, and maintenance of the delivery systems to provide for the safe and reliable delivery of energy to electric overhead customers, the downtown network, electric underground and street lighting customers.
Demonstrates a strong and visible commitment to safety of employees through support and participation with site safety teams, corporate safety initiatives, safety tailgates and continuous re-enforcement of safe working practices in compliance with corporate safety policies, OSHA and KOSHA regulations and other related state and federal regulatory agencies.
Responsible for the effective utilization of resources to facilitate a safe and efficient operation for all electric distribution related to overhead operational functions, DTN, underground, street lighting, and engineering operational functions.
Directs the development and approval of capital and operational annual budgets for the area of responsibility; participates in the long-range strategic planning for the Electric Distribution line of business ensures monthly and yearly performance targets are met.
Administers departmental policies and procedures consistent with labor contract and other company policies and procedures including management representation in grievance procedures and arbitrations; implementing practices, rules, and regulations promulgated by KOSHA, other governmental agencies, and professional organizations that regulate or affect the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Evaluates, determines and coordinates response to emergency situations and service restorations in a manner that ensures the safety of our employees and community.
Manages Electric Distribution activities and support functions to contribute to effective operational management, technical data control, and facility records management.
Responsible for goal setting, performance evaluations, promotions, demotions, disciplinary action, and employee development.
Identifies, directs and supports continuous improvement initiatives to improve operating practices and procedures to improve short- and long-range effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
Fosters an organizational climate that encourages employee participation, empowerment and team building.
Develops direct reports by providing career coaching and counseling and developmental opportunities; promotes an environment for diversity and supports the ensures supervision provides development opportunities for employees and addresses employee performance.
Provides formal supervision of Lead Engineers, Engineers, and the Engineering Co-op, including work assignments, technical direction, performance management, and employee development.
Oversees all major LG&E Electric Distribution overhead, underground distribution, network, and street lighting construction projects to include estimating, construction, work methods, modifications to design and construction standards to accommodate special conditions, technical specifications for construction equipment and the record keeping while ensuring quality, meeting budgetary requirements and construction schedules.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis
10+ years combined technical/management experience in utility construction, maintenance, and operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Utility industry experience is preferred.
Ability to use formal education in practical application to work assignments.
Extensive knowledge of the electric utility business.
