Robert Half is partnering with an Am Law 100 firm to assist in their search for a highly skilled Labor and Employment Attorney. This is a fully remote, contract-to-hire opportunity. The successful candidate must be actively barred in California.

Responsibilities:

Draft, review, and argue motions in state and federal courts.

Conduct discovery, including propounding and responding to written discovery and managing depositions.

Prepare legal pleadings and correspondence with attention to detail and accuracy.

Perform comprehensive legal research and advise on complex labor and employment matters.

Defend employers in litigation, including wage and hour class actions, discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, and related employment claims.

Advise corporate clients on compliance with state and federal labor laws, including wage and hour regulations, workplace investigations, employee handbooks, and policy creation.

Support fact investigations, analyze case law, and prepare case summaries for ongoing matters.

Interface with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and administrative agencies as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active California Bar membership.

2+ years' experience practicing labor and employment law, preferably on the defense side.

Demonstrated experience with all stages of litigation, including motion practice, discovery, pleadings, and legal research.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with eDiscovery platforms, case management tools, and legal research databases.

Strong adaptability, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities when addressing nuanced client and case issues (Source: Q1 2026_The Demand for Skilled Talent.pdf).

Track record of high ethical standards and integrity in sensitive legal matters.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with California wage and hour regulations (including PAGA and class actions).

Experience counseling clients on compliance, employee relations, and workplace investigations.

Ability to operate independently in a fully remote, fast-paced environment.
