The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant 4 to support the Office of General Counsel. This position serves as a key administrative support role within a fast-paced legal environment, providing direct support to attorneys handling construction, contract, and litigation matters.
This role involves managing large volumes of legal documentation, coordinating case-related activities, and ensuring timely and accurate processing of information. The position supports critical legal operations that impact contract compliance, dispute resolution, and agency decision-making across DOTD. With responsibility for maintaining case files, organizing records, and assisting in the preparation of legal documents and correspondence, this position plays an important role in supporting legal proceedings and ensuring operational efficiency within the Office of General Counsel. The position works closely with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff and may interact with internal and external stakeholders on sensitive matters.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Provides administrative support to attorneys handling construction, contract, and litigation-related matters
Prepares, organizes, and maintains legal files, case documentation, and correspondence
Assists in drafting, formatting, and processing legal documents, pleadings, and reports
Coordinates schedules, meetings, and deadlines associated with legal proceedings
Maintains and organizes large volumes of physical and electronic records
Processes incoming and outgoing correspondence and routes materials appropriately
Utilizes databases and software systems to track, manage, and retrieve information
Assists with travel arrangements, expense processing, and general administrative coordination
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency-wide permanent status employees); or by detail to special duty.
Compensation: Additional compensation may be considered for applicants who possess extraordinary job-related qualifications or credentials in accordance with State Civil Service Rule 6.5(g) and DOTD policy. Any such consideration is subject to approval and applicable pay limitations.
